By Dan Ambrose: Moving up in weight to the super middleweight division, former WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik (37-2, 32 Ko’s) struggled to beat the little known, weak punching Alfonso Loez (21-1, 16 KO’s) by a 10 round majority decision last Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. The final judges’ scores were 95-95, 98-92 and 99-91. I had the fight scored a 95-95, but if I was to give a win to either of them, I would have gone with Lopez. He threw more punches, landed more punches and threw the better combinations.

Arce-Vazquez Jr, Pavlik-Lopez, Alvarado-Narh tonight: Three opportunities to go to the refrigerator
By Chris Williams: Photo credit: Tom Casino/Showtime – If you were hoping that tonight’s expensive $55 pay-per-view card with Manny Pacquiao taking on an old Shane Mosley would have a good undercard packaged along with it, I’m afraid you might be a tad bit disappointed at what you’ll be getting. I don’t know about you but I’m not in the least bit interested in the Pacquiao-Mosley undercard fights – not one.

Pavlik came in at 170 pounds at Friday’s weight-in, which gave a two pound allowance for Pavlik. Kelly can’t afford to lose this fight and still remain relevant in the sport.

Pavlik-Lopez, Vazquez-Arce & Alvarado-Narh this Saturday on Pacquiao vs. Mosley undercard
By Chris Williams: This Saturday’s $55 pay-per-view card headed by Manny Pacquiao vs. 39-year-old Shane Mosley is one of the weaker ones within memory. Other than the main event between Pacquiao and Mosley, which looks to be a terrible mismatch, the undercard doesn’t have much going for it in terms of compelling fights.
