Remembering the Juan Manuel Marquez vs Freddie Norwood controversial bout

marquez35By Gerardo Granados: Last week at the end of the Jamie McDonnell vs Tomoki Kameda bout there were odd scoring by boxing analyst who usually have a good eye. For instance Dan Rafael and Paul Malignaggi saw Tomoki as the winner of the bout while I saw it the other way around scoring it 117-110 for Jamie.

The official score cards had McDonnell winning a 12 round unanimous decision by the scores of 116-111, 115-112 and 117-110 but on the internet you could see different scoring giving the bout to Kameda or to Jamie McDonnell.

Khan: I want Broner, Thurman, Cotto, Bradley and Marquez, but not Brook

khan5899By Scott Gilfoid: Amir Khan still doesn’t know if he’s going to be getting the Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight in September, but that’s not keeping Khan from spreading his big fishing net around to try and catch some of the other big names in the boxing world who might be willing to entertain a fight with him in the near future.

What’s surprising is that Khan has included some big punchers among the list in Miguel Cotto and Keith Thurman. What’s not surprising is that Khan says that IBF welterweight Kell Brook isn’t on his list, and that he’s not going to fight him due to Brook still not facing the guys that he feels he should be facing.

Marquez wants to fight once more, and says he’d be open to a rematch against Floyd Mayweather Jr. if the conditions right for the fight.

Marquez believes that the only way he could beat Mayweather is if he knocked him out, because he doesn’t have faith in the Las Vegas judges to give him a decision if it went to the scorecards.

Marquez: Mayweather is better than Pacquiao

1-LR_MAYPAC ARRIVAL-TRAPPFOTOS-9717By Chris Williams: If there’s one fighter who has consistently gotten the better of Manny Pacquiao throughout his pro career it is Juan Manuel Marquez. He’s had four fights with Pacquiao and seemingly gotten the better of him in all four fights despite the judges in Las Vegas not giving Marquez the victory in the first three fights.

Marquez thinks Pacquiao is going to have a lot of problems with Floyd Mayweather Jr. on Saturday night in their HBO/Showtime pay-per-view fight from the MGM Grand. Marquez feels that Mayweather’s defense is going to make it tough on Manny to get anything going in this fight with his offense.
