Can Hatton Beat Marquez?

hat643By Dave Lahr: Ricky Hatton has made it know that his plans are to fight Juan Manuel Marquez in his next bout after Ricky finishes his business with Manny Pacquiao on May 2nd. This fight seems as tough, if not more, than the Pacquiao bout for Hatton, and it’s questionable that he has the boxing ability to defeat a fighter at the level of Marquez. Hatton has been shielded for most of his career against really skillful fighters in the class of Pacquiao and Marquez.

Hatton Plans On Retirement After Pacquiao, Marquez & Mayweather Bouts

hat666638By Chris Williams: You got to admire Ricky Hatton (45-1, 32 KOs) for his confidence, because with a tough fight coming up on May 2nd at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada, Hatton is already planning on his next moves after the Pacquiao fighting, hoping to fight Juan Manuel Marquez next later in 2009, and then finish up his career against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2010. It seems as if Hatton is living in denial more than a little, because I can’t see a fight against either Marquez or Mayweather Jr. happening if Hatton can’t even beat Pacquiao.

Too ‘Old’ To Box – Rogan, Williams, Marquez, Mosley

rogan4447By Zubair Ali: Recent fights have had me thinking that the definition of an ‘old’ fighter needs revising. A fighter in his 30’s no longer seems to be all that old. Rob Norton at 37 handed David Dolan the second defeat of his career for the British cruiserweight title in what proved to be a thrilling and tight affair. Martin Rogan, 37 and Matt Skelton, 42 contested the Commonwealth heavyweight title in a bruising encounter in which Rogan upset the odds with an 11th round stoppage and continued his fairytale story.

Pacquiao Interested In 3rd Fight With Marquez

pac56357By Manuel Perez: According to Setanta Sports, Manny Pacquiao is apparently interested in a third fight with Juan Manuel Marquez. If this is true, it seems rather incredible given that Pacquiao has been steering well clear of Marquez since battling to a gift 12-round decision over Marquez in March 2008. The victory was a hallow one, however, as Marquez appeared to win the fight seven rounds to five, easily doing enough to beat the limited Pacquiao.
