News – Clottey to face Quintana or Holt

By Chris Williams: Former International Boxing Federation welterweight champion Joshua Clottey (35-3, 20 KO’s) could be facing Carlos Quintana or Kendall Holt on the undercard of the Kelly Pavlik vs. Paul Williams bout on December 5th, in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Neither of those names are all that exciting for me, given that Clottey was on the verge of fighting Shane Mosley but that fell through.

Vargas to return in 2010? Cintron to fight Ramos on October 24th – news

By Eric Thomas: Former two time light middleweight champion Fernando Vargas (26-5, 22 KO’s) could be making a comeback in 2010, possibly against Hector Camacho Jr. (49-3-1, 27 KO’s). The only problem with that bout is what weight would the fight be fought at, because Camacho Jr. is a light middleweight and Vargas, now 32, would probably be lucky if he could make super middleweight.

Mosley-Clottey Not Likely to Take Place on December 26th

By Jason Kim: It seems that the bout between WBA Shane Mosley (46-5, 39 KO’s) and former International Boxing Federation welterweight champion Joshua Clottey (35-3, 20 KO’s) won’t be taking place on December 26th, like it was originally thought it would be. The problem, according to the LA Times, is that HBO doesn’t want the fight to take place on December 26th, the reason being that it’s the day after Christmas.

Mosley vs. Clottey: Not the Fight that Shane Wanted

By Jason Kim: Last night, it was learned that WBA welterweight champion Shane Mosley (46-5, 39 KO’s) would be defending his title against Joshua Clottey (35-3, 20 KO’s) on December 26th, at the Staples Center, in Los Angeles, California. Although this isn’t the fight that Mosley, 37, wanted to get, it’s still great news that Shane is fighting an opponent is excellent as Clottey, who is one of the top five fighters in the welterweight division at this point in time.

Mosley to Fight Clottey on December 26th – News

By Eric Thomas: You got to feel a little bit sorry for World Boxing Association welterweight champion Shane Mosley (46-5, 39 KO’s). After risking his neck last January against one of the toughest fighters in the welterweight division in Antonio Margarito and beating him by a 9th round TKO, Mosley has been left pretty much with nothing really to show for the win in terms of big mega fights.

Mosley to fight on December 5th against either Clottey or Berto – News

By Jason Kim: After wasting time for months hopelessly pursuing a bout against Manny Pacquiao, Shane Mosley is close to finally having an opponent to fight. According to Dan Rafael, Mosley will be fighting on December 5th against either Joshua Clottey or Andre Berto. Having to settle for these two fighters must be a bitter pill for the 37-year-old Mosley to have swallow, because neither Berto or Clottey will bring in the kind of money that a fight against Pacquiao would.

Clottey Wants Rematch With Cotto – News

clottey324214By Dave Lahr: Welterweight Joshua Clottey is unhappy with his 12 round split decision loss to Miguel Cotto last Saturday night and wants a rematch with him. Clottey, 32, appeared to have done enough to edge the 28-year-old WBO welterweight champion Cotto, landing more punches and the harder shots than Cotto. However, it doesn’t look as if Cotto is going to bother himself with giving Clottey a rematch, because as I write this plans are underway for a potential bout between Cotto and Manny Pacquiao in November.

Cotto: Is Miguel Showings Signs of Being Shot?

cotto4523By Dave Lahr: WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto (34-1, 27 KO’s) defeated Joshua Clottey (35-3, 20 KO’s) by a controversial 12-round split decision last Saturday night, and looked pretty average in the process. If it was only a case of Cotto looking mediocre I wouldn’t be so concerned, but it was the way that Cotto was acting from the 6th round on that bothered me.
