Image: Haye: “I’m going to be dishing him [Ruiz] out Haye all night long”By Scott Gilfoid: World Boxing Association heavyweight champion David Haye (23-1, 21 KO’s) will be facing the stiffest test of his career when he faces two-time heavyweight champion John Ruiz (44-8-1, 30 KO’s) on April 3rd at the M.E.N. Arena, Manchester, Lancashire, United Kingdom. Although Haye’s narrow 12 round decision win over WBA heavyweight champion Nikolay Valuev was his best fight as a heavyweight to date, Ruiz looks to be a step up from the 36-year-old Valuev in ability.

Haye vs. Ruiz: Will David look good against the Quiet Man?

Image: Haye vs. Ruiz: Will David look good against the Quiet Man?By William Mackay: World Boxing Association heavyweight champion David Haye (23-1, 21 KO’s) arrived in the heavyweight division with great fanfare in November 2008 in the 2nd fight of his heavyweight career against Monte Barrett. Haye won the fight by a 5th round stoppage, and quickly used that fight as a springboard for a fight against IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko. Unlike a lot of heavyweight, Haye didn’t have to work his way to the top. He made it by self promotion and by the fact that he had previously held titles at cruiserweight.

Haye vs. Ruiz: Will the Quiet man expose Haye’s chin problem?

Image: Haye vs. Ruiz: Will the Quiet man expose Haye’s chin problem?By William Mackay: World Boxing Association heavyweight champion David Haye (23-1, 21 KO’s) will be making his first defense of his WBA title on April 3rd against two-time heavyweight champion John Ruiz (44-8-1, 30 KO’s) on April 3rd, at the M.E.N. Arena, Manchester, Lancashire. Haye, 29, is saying he’s going to be more aggressive in this fight than he was in winning the WBA title over 7-foot 320 pound Russian Nikolay Valuev last November. Haye won that fight by a 12 round majority decision but failed to impress with his constant movement, timid style of fighting and low punch output.

Haye vs. Ruiz: Does The Quiet Man have to Knock Haye out to win?

Image: Haye vs. Ruiz: Does The Quiet Man have to Knock Haye out to win?By Scott Gilfoid: In looking at the upcoming title fight between World Boxing Association heavyweight champion David Haye (23-1, 21 KO’s) and challenger two-time heavyweight champion John Ruiz (44-8-1, 30 KO’s), I think Ruiz may have to knock Haye out if he has any hopes of winning. Frankly, I don’t give Ruiz a chance in a million to win a decision in England. I just don’t see that happening. With all those screaming fans shouting their lungs out for every missed punch that Haye throws, the judges are probably going to fall in lockstep behind all the lovesick Haye fans and end up giving the decision to the 29-year-old Haye.

Haye: “I’m on a mission to unify the titles”

Image: Haye: “I’m on a mission to unify the titles”By William Mackay: World Boxing Association heavyweight champion David Haye (23-1, 21 KO’s) says in an article at the Mirror that he’s out to “unify the titles.” For that to happen, Haye, 29, will have to get through both the Klitschko brothers who hold the IBF, WBC and WBO heavyweight titles. Haye says “I want two more hard years in the boxing business to bring all the belts together and give the fight fans a champion they can recognize.” Haye is going to have to really pray that he can accomplish all that in just two short years, because he’s got a long ways to go if he wants to fight both brothers.

Will Ruiz give Haye a taste of defeat and send him back down to the cruiserweight division?

Image: Will Ruiz give Haye a taste of defeat and send him back down to the cruiserweight division?By Scott Gilfoid: David Haye has been a slugger for most of his career up until recently when he snatched the World Boxing Association heavyweight title with a boring 12 round majority decision over seven foot Nikolay Valuev on November 7th. Haye, showing skills that I’ve never seen from him before, used lateral movement to confound the giant Valuev and keep him from landing his big clubbing shots on him. It worked rather well for Haye, as it kept him from getting knocked out and allowed him to take the title fighting in Germany.

Haye: “I can be more gung-ho against him” [Ruiz]

Image: Haye: “I can be more gung-ho against him” [Ruiz]By Scott Gilfoid: WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (23-1, 21 KO’s) will have another opponent that does his talking in the ring instead of outside of it when Haye faces former two-time World Boxing Association heavyweight champion John Ruiz (44-8-1, 30 KO’s) on April 3rd, at the M.E.N. Arena, Manchester, Lancashire. Haye, 29, has mixed emotions about facing the “Quiet Man,” saying in an article at ESPN.co, “Ruiz is a dull guy and perhaps so boring even I won’t be able to trash talk him. He has no personality and that is reflected in his marketability. Nobody wants him. He [Ruiz] is a two-time world heavyweight champion that nobody wants to fight.”

Haye-Ruiz: Will Anyone be surprised if Ruiz knocks Haye out?

Image: Haye-Ruiz: Will Anyone be surprised if Ruiz knocks Haye out?By Scott Gilfoid: On April 3rd, World Boxing Association heavyweight champion David Haye (23-1, 21 KO’s) will be making his 1st defense of his WBA title against two-time WBA heavyweight champion John Ruiz (44-8-1, 30 KO’s) at the M.E.N. Arena, Manchester, Lancashire. Haye, 29, will be fighting in front of a large British crowd and is expected to beat the 38-year-old Ruiz by a knockout. The reason many people are predicting a knockout win for Haye is that he has much more power, speed and youth compared to the relatively light hitting Ruiz, who has lost three out of his last six fights coming into their April 3rd fight.

Ruiz, 38, may retire if he loses to the 29-year-old Haye in their April 3rd fight in Manchester, England, saying “I’ve got a chance to go out and give it everything I have, but if things go the opposite way and I don’t get the win against David Haye, then I think I’ll do something different with my life. It all depends on the outcome of the fight.”
