By Sean McDaniel: World Boxing Council light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal (25-1, 16 KO’s) has reportedly had shoulder surgery earlier today to repair his right shoulder, which came out of the socket in his recent fight with Adrian Diaconu in their fight on December 11th. The problem first occurred early on in the fight, causing Pascal to have to fight the remainder of the bout using mainly his left hand to do most of the damage.

Middleweight contender John Duddy (27-1, 17 KO’s) defeated Michi Munoz (21-4, 14 KO’s) by an eight round unanimous decision on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden, in New York, New York. The judges scored it 80-72, 79-73, and 79-73, all for the 30-year-old Duddy. This was Duddy’s first fight since his loss to Billy Lyell in April. Duddy looked slightly different from that fight, moving more and avoiding exchanges at much as possible. However, Duddy still ended up getting tagged with some huge shots in every round.

By Jim Dower: In his first fight since being defeated in a lopsided eight round decision in April 2009, middleweight contender John Duddy (27-1, 17 KO’s) returned to the ring on Saturday night to defeat Jorge “Michi” Munoz (21-3, 13 KO’s) by a 10 round unanimous decision on the undercard of the World Boxing Organization light featherweight match-up between champion Juan Manuel Lopez and challenger Rogers Mtagwa, and the WBA featherweight bout between champion Yuriokis Gambia vs. Whyber Garcia at New York’s Madison Square Garden. The final judges’ scores were 80-73, 79-73 and 79-73.
