By Chris Williams: The Manny Pacquiao vs. Jessie Vargas fight news hasn’t exactly caused a great deal of excitement in the boxing world ever since it was unofficially announced last night by the LA Times writer Lance Pugmire, who got it straight from the horses’ mouth, Michael Koncz, the helper for Pacquiao. However, according to Koncz, Vargas wasn’t the guy that Pacquiao wanted for his November 5th fight.

Pacquiao wanted former four division world champion Adrien “The Problem” Broner (32-2, 24 KOs), but he “out-priced himself,’ said Koncz. They really wanted the 27-year-old Broner for the fight, and you can understand why. Broner has the true Mayweather fighting style, he doesn’t run, and he’s got the ability to sell his fights like Mayweather.

Manny Pacquiao vs. Jessie Vargas = Tough sell on PPV

By Chris Williams: If Top Rank promoter Bob Arum is going to interest boxing fans to drop $69.99 on the Manny Pacquiao vs. Jessie Vargas on HBO pay-per-view on November 5, then he’s going to need to start marketing the fight really hard starting immediately. I cannot see Pacquiao-Vargas being a fight that will bring in a ton of PPV buys.

My guess is the Pacquiao-Vargas fight will be lucky if it hits even 300,000 pay-per-view buys on HBO. The positive for Pacquiao is that he’ll likely get his first knockout since 2009, because I can’t see Vargas surviving for 12 rounds against him. No way.

Manny Pacquiao to fight Jessie Vargas next! – Breaking News

By Chris Williams: In what has to be seen as a major disappointment for Terence Crawford, he’s been skipped over for a fight against Filipino star Manny Pacquiao (58-6-2, 38 KOs) once again. Pacquiao will be fighting WBO welterweight champion Jessie Vargas (27-1, 12 KOs) next, according to LA Times writer Lance Pugnire. He was told today by Pacquiao’s personal adviser Michael Koncz about the news.

The decision for Pacquiao to fight Vargas, 27, has been made! As for Crawford, I guess he’ll have to go back to the grindstone and hope that he can get a big money fight against Pacquiao the next time around if there is one.
