By Dan Ambrose: Trainer Robert Garcia thinks his fighter WBC interim middleweight champion Marco Antonio Rubio (59-6-1, 51 KOs) has the power, experience, courage and boxing skills to pull off an upset this Saturday night against WBA Super World middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (30-0, 27 KOs) in their “Mexican Style” fight card at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Cotto doesn’t want or need to fight Golovkin
By Robert “Big Moe” Elmore: There is a high demand for newly crowned WBC middleweight champ Miguel Cotto to fight fellow champ middleweight champ Gennady Golovikin (GGG). For starters, Cotto doesn’t owe GGG a fight. And this is no knock on GGG.
Cotto has been through numerous wars, built himself into the third highest pay per view attraction in North America, and most importantly, he’s paid his dues. He’s won titles in four different weight classes with his forth coming against Sergio Martinez. Beating Martinez gave Cotto the breakthrough he had been searching for. He tried twice against Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquaio and came up short. But now he’s “the man”. He’s calling the shots.
Rubio: I’m coming to KO Golovkin
By Dan Ambrose: Marco Antonio Rubio (59-6-1, 51 KOs) plans on spoiling WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin’s trip to California this Saturday by knocking him out in their fight on HBO Championship Boxing at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.
Rubio believes he’s the hardest puncher that Golovkin has ever fought before in his 7-year pro career, and he could very well be correct about that. The biggest puncher that Golovkin is Curtis Stevens, and he failed to make it past the 8th round.
Golovkin-Rubio winner will be mandatory for Miguel Cotto
By Dan Ambrose: WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto or Saul “Canelo” Alvarez will be facing a tough decision in the near future, as the winner of this Saturday’s boxing clash between WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (30-0, 27 KOs) and Marco Antonio Rubio (59-6-1, 51 KOs) will be the mandatory challenger for the WBA middleweight title.

Rubio ready for war against Golovkin on Saturday on HBO
By Dan Ambrose: WBC interim middleweight champion Marco Antonio Rubio (59-6-1, 51 KOs) says he’s ready for war this Saturday night in his tough title challenge against World Boxing Association Super World middleweight title holder Gennady Golovkin (30-0, 27 KOs) at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.
While Rubio is a huge underdog in this fight, you have to consider him a threat to beat Golovkin due to his punching power and his aggressive style of fighting.
Seven-day Weights: Golovkin vs. Rubio
Los Angeles, CA (October 11, 2014) Seven days out from their highly anticipated “Mexican Style” showdown, WBA/IBO Middleweight World Champion GENNADY “GGG” GOLOVKIN and WBC Interim Middleweight Champion MARCO ANTONIO “El Veneno” RUBIO were both within the prescribed limits set forth by the World Boxing Council rules.
For the WBC Official 7-Day Weigh-In, Golovkin tipped the scale at 165lbs., while Rubio weighed in at 167.5lbs.
“We’re a week out and both fighters appear to be in excellent shape,” said Tom Loeffler, Managing Director of K2 Promotions.
Golovkin-Rubio & Donaire-Walters next Saturday, October 18th at StubHub Center, Carson, California
By Chris Williams: Next Saturday night on October 18th, WBA Super World middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (30-0, 27 KOs) will be in the ring hoping to put on a good performance in his “Mexican Style” fight against WBC interim middleweight champion Marco Antonio Rubio (59-6-1, 51 KOs) on HBO World Championship Boxing from increasingly popular venue at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.
The Golovkin-Rubio fight will likely be overshadowed by the co-feature bout pitting WBA Super World featherweight champion Nonito Donaire (33-2, 21 KOs) against power house Nicholas Walters (24-0, 20 KOs). For me, this is the real headliner fight because it matches a young up and coming star in Walters against the heavily hyped former three division world champion Donaire.
It was only two years ago when Donaire was awarded the 2012 Fighter of the Year award by boxing writers for his victories over Jorge Arce, Jeffrey Mathebula, Toshiaki Nishioka and Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. Things have changed for Donaire since then.
Golovkin: Rubio is a Mexican fighter, so it’s going to be a fight
By Dan Ambrose: Marco Antonio Rubio (59-6-1, 51 KOs) may have failed every time he stepped it up against high quality opposition during his boxing career, but WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (30-0, 27 KOs) still expects him to make it a difficult fight for him next week in their clash on October 18th on HBO at the StubHub Center, in Carson, California, USA.
Golovkin sees Rubio as a tough Mexican fighter with excellent power and a dangerous left hand that he’s going to need to be watchful for in this fight.
Rubio ready to beat Golovkin
By Dan Ambrose: Two years after losing to former WBC champ Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, WBC interim middleweight champion Marco Antonio Rubio (59-6-1, 51 KOs) will be facing WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (30-0, 27 KOs) in 10 days on October 18th in a fight televised by HBO Championship Boxing at the StubHub Center, in Carson, California.
Rubio, 34, has gained a lot of confidence from being pumped up by his trainer Robert Garcia, who believes strongly that the hard hitting Rubio has a good chance of pulling off an upset in beating Golovkin.
