By Sean McDaniel: Despite what promoter Bob Arum and trainer Freddie Roach have been saying recently about talks are still ongoing between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao, it’s now being reported by writer David Mayo of the Grand Rapids Press, that isn’t the case. According to Mayo, the advisor for Mayweather, Leonard Ellerbe, is saying as of Friday of last week that there are no talks between Mayweather and Pacquiao’s teams and that Mayweather “has no interest in discussing boxing, just five weeks after whipping [Shane] Mosley.”

Mayweather-Pacquiao: Who’s Leaking what?
By Robert Jackson: For the current round of negotiations to get a Mayweather/Pacquiao fight done, Top Rank – representatives for Manny Pacquiao and Golden Boy Promotions – representatives for Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather decided collectively not to negotiate in the media. A ‘gag’ order was put in place to prevent inside information leaked to the media from preventing the fight to be made.
Is Mayweather running scared of Pacquiao?
By Philip Green: If recent internet clips are anything to go by, it appears that Floyd Mayweather Jr may decide to retire once again rather than lock horns with his Philippino nemesis and recently crowned ‘fighter of the year’ (Boxing Writers Association of America) Manny Pacquiao. While this is disappointing to hear, I am not surprised by the self-proclaimed ‘Greatest of all time’s’ decision to get out with his precious ‘0’ intact, given what I see as his history of cherry-picking and dodging opponents.
Arum could match Pacquiao with Cotto or Margarito if Mayweather fight doesn’t happen
By Dave Lahr: In the latest boxing news, Bob Arum, the promoter for Manny Pacquiao, is saying that he’ll look to match Pacquiao up with either Antonio Margarito or Miguel Cotto if the fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. falls through. Cotto has the WBA junior middleweight belt and has already been beaten to a pulp by Pacquiao last year. However, Pacquiao is into collecting titles and with Cotto holding the WBA belt, a weight class that Pacquiao has never won a title, it would create a reason for Pacquiao to fight Cotto again. Arum’s number #1 choice would be for Pacquiao to fight Mayweather because that’s where the big money is and the real interest.
Arum says Pacquiao ready for Mayweather fight – News
By William Mackay: Top Rank promoter Bob Arum, 78, says that his fighter World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao has agreed to the drug testing and is ready to fight undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. as soon as Floyd makes the decision to fight Manny. In an article at Sportinglife.com, Arum says “I’m telling you now, I’ve had long conversations with him, Manny Pacquiao’s first goal is to get Mayweather in the ring and this whole drug-testing nonsense – I think it was nonsense, but Manny has now agreed. He’s [Pacquiao] agreed, so now that’s not an issue. So now the ball’s in Mayweather’s court and if Mayweather doesn’t fight him, that’s Mayweather’s decision and he has every right to make that decision. If I was Mayweather I wouldn’t want to fight Pacquiao either.”
Mayweather deserves to take a two year break if he wants to
By Dave Lahr: I just finished seeing Floyd Mayweather’s “Make a Wish” interview from Wednesday where Mayweather talks about wanting to step away from boxing for a couple of years. You know, I totally agree with whatever decision he takes. Mayweather earned the right to take a break if he wants to after beating Shane Mosley like he was nothing on May 1st. In my book, Mayweather earned total respect for that impressive victory.
Prediction: Mayweather is only threatening to take time off to get a better deal for the Pacquiao fight
By Kyle Simpson: The potential Mayweather-Pacquiao fight is quite clearly the biggest fight in each boxers carreer and I think that Floyd ever the opportunist is trying to milk this cash-cow for all he can and get as much money as possible.
Mayweather says he plans on “taking a couple years off from boxing”
By Sean McDaniel: Undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. (41-0, 25 KO’s) shockingly announced that he plans on taking a couple of years off from boxing in a June 2nd YouTube video taken of him in Las Vegas while visiting a cancer patient. Mayweather, 33, repeatedly said during the interview that he plans on taking a couple of years off from boxing. Initially, Mayweather was saying he taking “a year or two” off from boxing. However, as the interview progressed, Mayweather changed it to a “couple of years” away from the sport.
Mayweather Ducks Pacquiao: Floyd wants to take a year or two off?
By Giancarlo Malinconico: Rather than face Manny Pacquiao in the biggest bout in boxing history later this year, Floyd Mayweather has decided to follow the old ninja motto: never take a battle unless you know you can win. In fact, I have written several articles on suspicion that Mayweather never truly intended to face the Pac Man. Upon his return to the sport of boxing in 2009, instead of waiting one more day for the Pacquiao and Rick Hatton match to occur, Mayweather announced his return against the much smaller Juan Manuel Marquez, who apparently “called him out,” and who was fighting two divisions from Mayweather’s weight class down at the lightweight limit.
Roach wants Pacquiao to knockout Mayweather and Marquez and then retire
By Chris Williams: Trainer Freddie Roach says he’d like to see his fighter Manny Pacquiao take on and stop both Juan Manuel Marquez and Floyd Mayweather Jr. before retiring from boxing. Too bad Roach doesn’t have any say so about who Pacquiao is matched up against, because I think it’s highly unlikely that Pacquiao will ever face Marquez again in this lifetime.
