By William Mackay: European Boxing Union (EBU) cruiserweight champion Enzo Maccarinelli (32-4, 25 KO’s) will be taking a big gamble in his next fight against unbeaten German based contender Alexander Frenkel (22-0, 17 KO’s) in Frank Warren’s Magnificent Seven competition at the LG Arena, Birmingham, West Midlands, England. Maccarinelli, 29, thinks this fight will further resurrect his once promising career. It certainly hurt, as the 25-year-old Frenkel is currently ranked #9 WBA, #10 IBF and #11 WBO, and has knockout power in either hand.

Maccarinelli vs. Frenkel: Is Enzo going to get knocked out again?
By William Mackay: Former WBO cruiserweight champion Enzo Maccarinelli (32-4, 25 KO’s) will be fighting on the Magnificent Seven fight card on September 18th at the LG Arena, in Birmingham, West Midlands, in the UK. Maccarinelli’s rumored opponent is the unbeaten Ukrainian contender Alexander Frenkel (22-0, 17 KO’s), who is one of the most dangerous punchers in the cruiserweight division right now. Although the fight still isn’t confirmed, there’s a strong possibility that the 6’4″ Maccarinelli will be facing the 25-year-old 6’1″ Frenkel for Maccarinelli’s EBU cruiserweight title.
Bunce thinks Huck is made for Maccarinelli
By Scott Gilfoid: You got to like Steve Bunce’s spirit. In an article at the BBC Sport, Bunce thinks that Enzo Maccarinelli should go after WBO cruiserweight champion Marco Huck (28-1, 21 KO’s), saying “The fight to go for is German Marco Huck. He’s as game as they come, but absolutely basic, made for Enzo. The big money fight is to go to Germany, knock him out and become champion again. If that happens, who says fairy tales don’t exist?” Well, if you ask me, I think that’s a rotten idea and a good way for Maccarinelli to get knocked out again. Yeah, Huck looks basic as all heck, but there’s one problem – the dude can really punch.
Maccarinelli could get a world title shot in the near future
By Sean McDaniel: Former WBO cruiserweight champion Enzo Maccarinelli (32-4, 25 KO’s) could be getting a title shot in the cruiserweight division shortly, according to Walesonline. This after the 29-year-old Maccarinelli dismantled Russian Alexander Kotlobay on Tuesday night, stopping him in the 1st round to win the European Boxing Union (EBU) cruiserweight title at the Yubileiny Sports Palace, in Saint Petersburg, Russia. It was thought that Maccarinelli’s management team would take things slow for awhile, let him pick up some wins before putting him in a world title fight.
What did Maccarinelli prove in beating Kotlobay?
By Scott Gilfoid: Okay, I’ve seen Enzo Maccarinelli’s 1st round knockout win over Alexander Kotlobay from Tuesday night and I don’t see what the fuss is about the win. Maccarinelli had a guy that was completely over-matched and got taken out almost immediately in the fight. It’s nice that Maccarinelli captured the EBS cruiserweight trinket, but come on, Man, there’s huge jump from beating the likes of Kotlobay and taking on beating the top guys in the cruiserweight division like Marco Huck, Ola Afolabi, Danny Green, Denis Lebedev and Krzystof Wlodarczyk.

Calzaghe comments on Cleverly and Maccarinelli – Boxing News
By Sean McDaniel: Recently retired former WBO super middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe (46-0, 32 KO’s) has a lot of sympathy for his former stable mate Enzo Maccarinelli (29-4, 22 KO’s) after watching Maccarinelli get destroyed in a 3rd round stoppage by Russian Denis Lebedev last weekend on the undercard of the Amir Khan vs. Andriy Kotelnik WBA light welterweight title fight at the M.E.N. Arena, in Manchester. The knockout loss for Maccarinelli, his third in his last four fights, has left him pondering what to do with his career and whether he should retire or not.
