By Erik Schmidt: IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (53-3, 47 KO’s) has yet to let on who his next opponent will be for December 13th. It was thought that Wladimir would be fighting his International Boxing Federation mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin next but it may not necessarily turn out to be the case now. Klitschko, 33, recently made mention of being interested in fighting his WBO number #1 mandatory challenger Eddie Chambers (35-1, 18 KO’s) first rather than Povetkin.

By Jim Dower: According to Dan Rafael, IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (53-3, 49 KO’s) could be facing number #3 ranked IBF contender Eddie Chambers (35-1, 18 KO’s) next rather than Alexander Povetkin, Klitschko’s number #1 mandatory opponent. The word is that Povetkin’s assistant trainer Teddy Atlas wants to get Povetkin in another fight before Povetkin takes on Klitschko. That sounds like a good strategy by Atlas, because Povetkin, 28, has looked less than stellar in his last two fights, beating Taurus Sykes and Jason Estrada but getting hit a lot.

Chambers came on after the 5th round dominating the action and dropped the 26-year-old Dimitrenko with a left hook that knocked Alexander’s mouthpiece out in the 10th.

With over 60,000 tickets already sold for the bout, understandably, Wladimir is interested in carrying out the fight date but against a different opponent.
