Ruben Guerrero: Danny Garcia will end up like Andre Berto

Image: Ruben Guerrero: Danny Garcia will end up like Andre Berto(Photo credit: Suzanne Teresa/Premier Boxing Champions) By Dan Ambrose: An angry Ruben Guerrero, the father of #6 WBC Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero (33-3-1, 18 KOs), almost came to blows with Angel Garcia, the father of #2 WBC Danny Garcia (31-0, 17 KOs), at their final press conference for their fight this Saturday night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

Ruben Guerrero was all worked up emotionally when he took the stage to speak, and he immediately turned on the 52-year-old Angel Garcia and challenged him to a fight. Angel said “I’m 52-years-old, I don’t play that.” Ruben then said, “I don’t care. I am 58.” At that point, the two trainers were separated to keep blows from being thrown. Angel didn’t look like he was ready to throw any punches, but Ruben definitely did.

Danny Garcia vs. Robert Guerrero: Is it all about money and not glory?

guerrero (5)By Gerardo Granados: Yes, it is true, in prize fighting the boxers goal is to make as much money as they can, but even if they do make tons of money, they will never find glory, nor achieve respect from fight fans, by chasing easy opponents, because only the true lion kings can be involved in epic battles.

As much as I want to see it as a good match up and to see Robert Guerrero (33-3-1, 18 KOs) win the fight against unbeaten Danny Garcia (31-0, 18 KOs) this Saturday night in their fight at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, I simply cannot do it. Even if Garcia hasn’t looked good since September, 2013, when he defeated Lucas Matthysse. Guerrero hasn’t looked like the same fighter that he once did, and the tear and wear from his many wars in the ring may have finally caught up with him.

Danny Garcia: I should have been a pound-for-pound fighter a long time ago

garcia-mansour (4)By Dan Ambrose: Unbeaten #2 WBC Danny Garcia (31-0, 18 KOs) will be going into this Saturday’s fight with a big chip on his shoulder when he battles for the vacant WBC welterweight title against #6 WBC Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero (33-3-1, 18 KOs) on Premier Boxing Champions on Fox Sports from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

The unbeaten Garcia feels that he should have already been on Ring Magazine’s pound-for-pound list by this point in his career for his years of holding down the WBA/WBC 140lb titles. However, Ring Magazine has kept the 27-year-old Garcia out of their top 10 pound-for-pound ratings for some reason.

Danny Garcia: This fight is going to make me a bigger star

Image: Danny Garcia: This fight is going to make me a bigger starBy Dan Ambrose: Former WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia (31-0, 18 KOs) will be taking a step up in competition this Saturday night when he faces Robert Guerrero (33-3-1, 18 KOs) for the vacant WBC welterweight title at the Staples Center, in Los Angeles, California.

Normally, this wouldn’t be considered a step up for a fighter to be facing a fading fighter like Guerrero, but for Garcia, it has to be seen as a step up. Garcia has been fighting guys like Paulie Malignaggi and lightweight Rod Salka recently in record-padding fights.

Khan wants winner of Danny Garcia – Robert Guerrero

khan101By Scott Gilfoid: Well, it doesn’t look like IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook is going to be getting the stadium fight against Amir Khan (31-3, 19 KOs) for June of this year that he’s been blabbering about. Brook and his promoter Eddie Hearn have been hoping that a fight could be arranged against Khan for June at Wembley Stadium in London, UK. However, Khan is now saying he wants to fight the winner of this Saturday’s fight between Danny Garcia and Robert Guerrero.

Those two fighters are battling for the vacant WBC welterweight title. #1 WBC Khan wants to face the winner of the fight so that he can try and pick up the WBC belt. For some reason the World Boxing Council bypassed Khan in order to bless the Garcia-Guerrero fight for the WBC title.

It was a weird move because those two fighters are both ranked below Khan. The winner of the Garcia vs. Guerrero fight will be a paper champion and not considered to be the main guy because of the Mickey Mouse way that the WBC set it up.

Robert Guerrero wants to prove haters/haters wrong on Saturday

guerrero (2)By Dan Ambrose: The struggling Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero (33-3-1, 18 KOs) will be trying to turn his career around this Saturday against unbeaten and very lucky Danny Garcia (31-0, 18 KOs) at the Stables Center in Los Angeles, California. Guerrero is seen by a lot of fans as the B-side victim in this fight against Garcia, and people doubt that he can win the fight. The Guerrero vs. Garcia fight will be televised on Premier Boxing Champions on Fox.

The two fighters will be facing off for the vacant WBC welterweight title that was recently stripped from Floyd Mayweather Jr. It would be a big feather in Guerrero’s cap if he could beat Garcia and prove the doubters wrong in this fight. It’s unfortunate but, Guerrero has not looked good in his last four fights.

Danny Garcia vs. Robert Guerrero on Saturday at Staples Center, in Los Angeles, CA

Ruben GuerreroBy Dan Ambrose: Ruben Garcia, the trainer/father of #6 WBC Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero (33-3-1, 18 KOs), took a shot at #2 WBC Danny Garcia (31-0, 18 KOs) this past week in saying he’s not Puerto Rican and he doesn’t know what he is.

Garcia’s parents are Puerto Rican, but he was born in the United States. Garcia and Guerrero will be facing each other this Saturday night on Premier Boxing Champions on Fox at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

“We got a lot of Latinos, Chicanos and all the Mexicanos and all the haters, especially all the haters,” Ruben said to Martin Gallegos. They’re going to find out when we win and they’re going to come from us, bro. All the haters and the doubters. I think they’re [the fans] going for us. This guy [Garcia] doesn’t speak a Latin word or Puerto Rico. Like they say, he’s not a real Puerto Rican. He just says he is but he’s not. I don’t know what he is. We haven’t figured that out yet. He’s got to find it out. It’s going to be his nightmare. He’s going to figure it out quick,” Ruben said.

Robert Guerrero wants to prove his doubters wrong

guerrero12334(Photo credit: Brett Ostrowski / Mario Serrano Team Guerrero) By Dan Ambrose: Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero (33-3-1, 18 KOs) is well aware that his opponent Danny Garcia (31-0, 18 KOs) has already predicted a fifth round knockout in their scheduled fight on January 23.

Guerrero will need to show the boxing world that they were wrong to see him as a washed up fighter that was only picked out for the 27-year-old Garcia in order to get a sure thing title. With the way that Guerrero has looked recently in his last four fights, it is hard to argue in his favor for not being an over-the-hill fighter.

garcia955By Dan Ambrose: The WBC did Danny Garcia and Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero (33-3-1, 18 KOs) a huge gift by allowing them to fight for their vacant WBC welterweight title on January 23.

On Tuesday of this week, the WBC announced that they were letting the Garcia-Guerrero fight be for the vacant WBC 147lb strap. The move let Guerrero skip over four higher ranking contenders in the WBC rankings.

Here are the fighters that Guerrero was able to skip past to fight for the WBC welterweight title:
