Froch expects Brook to give Golovkin problems

froch456667

By Scott Gilfoid: Well, I had a feeling former super middleweight champion Carl Froch would come out of the woodwork to chime in about this Saturday’s fight between unbeaten IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin and British fighter Kell Brook, and sure enough, Froch has decided to give his thoughts about the fight.

Froch says he sparred with Brook many years ago back before he fought Andre Dirrell in 2009, and according to him, Brook gave him problems during the session. As such, Froch has extrapolated from that sparring event to reason that Brook will cause Golovkin a lot of problems this Saturday, September 10 at the O2 Arena in London, England.

I’m not sure that I agree with Froch’s opinion, but it looks like he’s got his mind made up that Brook will cause Golovkin problems because he caused him problems six years ago. It makes zero sense to me, but if that’s what Froch wants to believe, I’m good with that.

Golovkin: My focus is Brook; Canelo, Froch are like clowns

Image: Golovkin: My focus is Brook; Canelo, Froch are like clowns

By Eric Baldwin: IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs) says he’s putting his entire focus on his next opponent Kell Brook, because Carl Froch, Chris Eubank Jr., Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Billy Joe Saunders are acting like clowns. Golovkin says that what makes these fighters similar to clowns is the talking they’re doing but then not fighting. Golovkin says they have no respect.

Golovkin might get a fight one of these days against Canelo, but he’s likely the only one of the bunch that will ever fight him. Saunders doesn’t seem to be truly interested in facing him.

Loeffler wants Froch for Golovkin after Brook

froch761

By Scott Gilfoid: If former super middleweight champion Carl Froch is tired of yapping on the sidelines about boxing, he’s got a big money match against unbeaten IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs) waiting for him. Golovkin’s promoter Tom Loeffler says he’s open to making a fight between Golovkin and the 39-year-old Froch after the Kell Brook (36-0, 25 KOs) fight next month on September 10.

Loeffler says that he’d be willing to match Golovkin against either Froch or Chris Eubank Jr. if everything goes right with the Brook fight next month at the O2 Arena in London, England.

Golovkin: Froch is like a clown, he talks too much

golovkin411

By Scott Gilfoid: Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs) says he thought it was funny some of the negative comments former super middleweight champion Carl Froch made about him this past in the media. Froch apparently said that Golovkin needs to move up in weight and fight guys his own size despite the fact that he’s a small middleweight that could actually fight at 154lb if he wanted to.

Golovkin said that he thinks Froch talks too much and that he’s a clown. Golovkin has no interested in fighting Froch right now because he sees him as finished and retired from boxing. Golovkin’s main focus is on his September 10 fight against Britain’s Kell Brook (36-0, 25 KOs) at the O2 Arena in London, England.

Fury vs. Klitschko = same result, says Froch

wladimir400

By Scott Gilfoid: The opinions about the rematch between IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (25-0, 18 KOs) and Wladimir Klitschko (64-4, 53 KOs) are pretty well divided evenly with some boxing fans thinking Fury will do just enough to scratch out another painfully boring 12 round decision again, while other fans seeing Wladimir poleaxing the British heavyweight within the first six rounds to get the win.

Former super middleweight champion Carl Froch thinks that Fury will beat the 40-year-old Wladimir a second time, mainly because the Ukrainian heavyweight won’t do what he needs to do by throwing more punches. That was obviously the sole reason why Wladimir lost to Fury last time – he simply didn’t throw enough punches.

Despite being the older fighter, Wladimir had the better hand speed, punching power and mobility compared to Fury. Wladimir had everything going for him in that fight, but he forgot that he needed to actually throw punches to win.

Froch thinks DeGale would be easy fight for him

froch761

By Scott Gilfoid: Former IBF/WBA/WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (33-2, 24 KOs) turned 39-years-old two days ago on July 2, and he sees there being no reason for him to make a comeback to resume his boxing career at this point.

Froch hasn’t fought in two years since 2014, and he sees the 168lb division being a poor one at this time. He thinks if he came back right now, he would easily defeat the current IBF super middleweight champion James DeGale (23-1, 14 KOs), who Froch chose not to fight last year in February 2015.

Froch vacated his IBF title rather than face DeGale, who was his mandatory challenger at the time. That move led many boxing fans to regard Froch as being scared of DeGale due to the ducking type of move he had made. Froch subsequently retired soon after without fighting anyone.

Froch says he offered Golovkin fight last year at 172

froch876

By Scott Gilfoid: Former super middleweight champion Carl Froch claims he offered a catch-weight fight against middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin at 172 pound last year, but the Kazakhstan fighter didn’t want the match due to Froch’s size and power. If there was an actual for a fight by Froch, he was a tad late, because Golovkin wanted to fight him in 2013. Instead of Froch taking the fight, he retired from the sport.

If Froch did try and face Golovkin last year at light heavyweight, it was probably too late and the wrong weight class. I mean, I could see Golovkin moving up one division to fight Froch, but definitely not two divisions. There are limits of what Golovkin will put up with in order to get a fight. It would have been a gamble for Golovkin if he’d taken the fight with Froch. I’m not talking about a game of Golovkin losing. I’m talking about a gamble of the fight potentially not doing well because of Froch having been out of the sport for so long.

Froch: Eubank Jr. doesn’t want Golovkin fight

froch763

By Scott Gilfoid: Former world champion Carl Froch has serious doubts whether #2 WBA, #2 WBC contender Chris Eubank Jr. really wants the fight against IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin. Froch suspects that Eubank Jr. is just saying stuff about wanting the GGG fight, but won’t go ahead and take it.

Froch thinks it’s too soon for the 26-year-old Eubank Jr. to take on an experienced guy like Golovkin, because he sees it as a potentially dangerous fight for Junior. Froch says he would prefer that Eubank Jr. continue to defend his British middleweight title until he wins it outright, and then he should go after the European middleweight title.

Froch: Groves thinks he’s superior to Murray

groves873

By Scott Gilfoid: Former super middleweight champion Carl Froch chimed in with some of his thoughts about George Groves (23-3, 18 KOs) after watching him and Martin Murray (33-3-1, 16 KOs) in the Gloves are Off. Froch wants to see if Groves’ old confidence was there from his two fights with him in the past.

Froch two knockout wins over Groves seems to have knocked the confidence right out of him unfortunately. However, Froch says he spotted some of the old confidence returning in Groves during the ‘Gloves are Off’ special.

Froch came away from watching the special thinking that Groves feels he’s superior to Murray, and he believes he’s going to win. The two fighters will be facing each other next Saturday night on June 25 on the undercard of the Dominic Breazeale vs. Anthony Joshua card at the O2 Arena in London, UK.

Froch picks Saunders to defeat Golovkin

British boxing great Carl Froch says WBO Middleweight King Billy Joe Saunders has the skills to take out Kazakh middleweight king Gennady Golovkin.
