Froch: Golovkin’s promoter doesn’t want him to come near me!

frochBy Scott Gilfoid: Carl Froch says he spoke with IBF/IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin’s promoter Tom Loeffler recently about a potential catch-weight fight against Golovkin, and Loeffler didn’t want the fight to take place.

Froch says he got the impression from his conversation with Loeffler that the K2 promoter didn’t want his smaller 5’10 ½” fighter to come anywhere near him. Froch figures that his superior size compared to Golovkin put Loeffler off from the idea.

Froch says he can’t make 168lbs because it would be too hard on his body if he tries to melt down to that weight from where he’s at now since he retired from boxing last year.

Froch: Golovkin’s promoter said no to 168 and 172 for fight

frochBy Dan Ambrose: Former IBF/WBA/WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (33-2, 24 KOs) says he spoke to Gennady Golovkin’s promoter Tom Loeffler recently about what weight a fight between him and Golovkin could take place. Froch says that Loeffler told him that Golovkin couldn’t come up to either 168 of 172.

Golovkin and his management were previously interested in fighting Froch at 168. But if what Froch is saying is true about Golovkin no longer willing to move up to super middleweight for a fight against him, then it pretty much shuts off any chances of a fight between the two fighters ever taking place.

Froch wants Fury to rough Klitschko up

fury455By Scott Gilfoid: Former super middleweight champion Carl Froch has serious doubts about Tyson Fury (24-0, 18 KOs) beating IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (64-3, 53 KOs) in their fight this Saturday night at the ESPRIT Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany.

Froch believes the 6’6” Klitschko will win a hard fought decision. However, Froch says he’d like to see Fury rough Klitschko up and make him earn his win the hard way by making it tough for him the full 12 rounds.

Froch: Abraham will be a hard fight for Martin Murray

1-abraham murray (2)By Scott Gilfoid: Former world champion Carl Froch expects #10 WBO Martin Murray (32-2-1, 15 KOs) to have a really difficult time trying to beat WBO super middleweight champion Arthur Abraham (43-4, 29 KOs) in their fight this Saturday night at the TUI Arena in Hannover, Germany.

Froch believes that it’s a winnable fight for the 33-year-old Murray, but still a hard one potentially due to Abraham’s punching power. Froch thinks that Murray needs to outwork the 35-year-old Abraham to have a chance of winning the fight. In other words, Murray needs to try and do what Paul Smith attempted in his first fight by Abraham by being the busier fighter, and then hoping that the judges will ignore Abraham’s much more powerful shots in order to win a decision.

DeGale: Froch is an old man and old news

degale777By Scott Gilfoid: Recently, former WBA/WBC 168lb champion Carl Froch came out of the woodwork to take some verbal shots at IBF super middleweight champion James DeGale (21-1, 14 KOs), saying that he might potentially be interested in coming out of retirement to take back his IBF title by beating DeGale if he can get past 35-year-old Lucian Bute (32-2, 25 KOs) in their fight this month on November 28th at the Centre Videotron in Quebec City, Quebec.

DeGale, 29, doesn’t advise the 38-year-old Froch to come out of retirement, because he sees him as an old man now who had his time in the sport, and it now just part of history. Froch said he would give DeGale a good “pasting” if he does decide to come back. However, Froch also says that his girlfriend would likely tell him not to come back to the sport.

Hearn thinks Froch will only comeback for Golovkin fight

1-golovkin (5)By Scott Gilfoid: While Carl Froch recently said that he might be interested in making a comeback to fight IBF super middleweight champion James DeGale if he beats Lucian Bute this month in their fight on November 28th, Froch’s promoter Eddie Hearn believes that the only fighter that will get Froch to come out of retirement is IBF/IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin.

With the huge money that Froch made in his last fight against George Groves in 2014, which was said to be £8m [$12 million USD], Hearn thinks the only fight that would get Froch to comeback would be Golovkin. Hearn has a pretty good idea how the British boxing public would take to a Froch-DeGale fight, and he must be thinking that it wouldn’t be nearly as big a deal as Froch seems to think it would be.

Froch vs. DeGale: Is Carl too shot to beat James?

froch5629By Oliver Norager: It has be rumored that former WBC/IBF/WBA-champion Carl “The Cobra” Froch (33-2, 24 KOs) is thinking about a return to the ring to face IBF champion James DeGale (21-1, 14 KOs) to try to get his old title back and show the people what the Cobra is really about.

Froch, himself, has said that he was thinking about a return to the ring, but has not decided yet. His promoter, Eddie Hearn, has said that if Froch returns, he will fight either Gennady Golovkin or DeGale.

Carl Froch undecided about comeback

frochBy Scott Gilfoid: It’s starting to look like former IBF/WBA/WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (33-2, 24 KOs) wasn’t serious when he mentioned earlier this week that he’s considering making a comeback to possibly face the winner of the James DeGale vs. Lucian Bute fight on November 28th.

Froch said this week that he would like to win back his IBF 168lb title, which is now in the possession of the UK’s DeGale. Froch feels that it wouldn’t be a difficult task to defeat DeGale at Wembley, and then cruise off into retirement again.

Froch wants DeGale at Wembley next spring

froch95By Scott Gilfoid: Carl Froch (33-2, 24 KOs) says he’s interested in staging a comeback potentially next spring to face IBF super middleweight champion James DeGale (21-, 14 KOs) in a fight at Wembley in London, UK.

DeGale, 29, will have to beat his next opponent former IBF 168lb champion Lucian Bute (32-2, 25 KOs) in their fight on November 28th at the Centre Videotron, in Quebec City, Quebec. Froch’s plan is to make a comeback, if he’s given permission from his family, beat DeGale to win back his old IBF strap, and then go back into retirement.

Carl Froch considering a return!

froch11By Scott Bells: So Carl Froch has finally come out and said he is considering a return to the ring, possibly to fight IBF super middleweight champion James DeGale (21-1, 14 KOs) (provided he beats Lucian Bute (32-2, 25 KOs)). My initial reaction is the say to Froch to stay retired! Too many fighters have returned and looked a shadow of their former self, lost a fight and damaged their legacy.

For Froch, if he were to return, the only fight people would want to see would be him vs. middleweight Gennady Golovkin, and unfortunately I do not see it as a fight Froch would win. I am a huge Froch fan and think he has been one of the best and under-appreciated British world champions in recent history, but he has been in a lot of wars. Froch’s two fights against Mikkel Kessler were enough to stop many fighters from fighting again, but Froch’s first fight against George Groves also showed that he is slowing down, and that his punch resistance may have faded slightly.
