By Allan Fox: WBA Inter-Continental welterweight champion Marcus Maidana (33-3, 30 KO’s) will be making a tough first defense of his title next month against former junior middleweight title challenger Josesito Lopez (30-5, 18 KO’s) at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California.

Cotto looking for $10 million for Canelo fight
By Dan Ambrose: If Golden Boy Promotions wants Miguel Cotto (37-4, 30 KO’s) to step in and fight WBA/WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (42-0-1, 30 KO’s) on September 14th then they’re going to have to give Cotto a nice payday.
According to fightnews.com, Cotto is eying a payday of $10 million for a Canelo fight for what would be a pay per view bout if the fight takes place.
Considering that Canelo has never head-lined a PPV bout before and hasn’t proven himself yet as a PPV draw, it’s questionable whether a Cotto-Canelo bout would draw enough PPV buys for Cotto to get a $10 million guaranteed payday.
Will Pacquiao and Mayweather ever fight?
By Robert Elmore: Manny Pacquiao had the opportunity to leave Top Rank in October of last year, but decided to re-up his contract with the promotional company. I guess Pacquiao figured that he has enough to deal with as a congressman so he decided to let Bob Arum continue to handle his affairs.
But I would like to say that I believe that if Pac left Top Rank the fight between he and Floyd Mayweather could happen. It might not be as juicy as it was 4 years ago, but it still will be a good fight. I can support my argument with hard facts.
Mayweather vs. Guerrero: Floyd was master class
By Mark Calooke: This weekend fans witnessed another master class when Floyd Mayweather Jr. made his long awaited comeback against Robert Guerrero. Like expected, Guerrero started fast but was eventually overwhelmed by the P4P superstar.
In Britain, BoxNation had exclusive rights to air the event. I spend a lot of time around boxing people and inside gyms. And people are not happy. I have heard people saying they will cancel the channel, watch future shows on mute and only watch boxing on sky sports 1.
Mikey Garcia battles Juan Manuel Lopez on June 15th in Dallas, Texas
DALLAS (May 9, 2013) — Undefeated World Boxing Organization (WBO) featherweight champion MIKEY GARCIA will make his first title defense, against former two-division world champion JUAN MANUEL “Juanma” LOPEZ, Saturday, June 15, at the American Airlines Center (2500 Victory Ave., Dallas, TX 75219). The fight will be televised live on HBO Boxing After Dark®, beginning at 10:45 p.m. ET/PT. This will be the first time HBO has televised a boxing event from the American Airlines Center.

Dereck Chisora: Back with a bang in fight against Deontay Wilder
By Dimond Dallas: First off, I know that British heavyweight “Del Boy” already made his comeback on April 20 in a lackluster TKO stoppage win over Hector Avila who was someone just there for Dereck Chisora (16-4, 10 KO’s) to beat and get some much needed rounds in after his rather extended period of inactivity… but his upcoming fight with Deontay Wilder (28-0, 28 KO’s) next month on June 15h at the Wembley Arena in London, UK is the one fight with which he will be make his ‘real’ return to the ring… where I hope that he decides to comeback with a bang…
Dereck Chisora is a legitimate top name in heavyweight boxing now and there is something about his rise to fame that all boxing promoters and boxers alike must take note of and that is in professional boxing what is important is to have a degree of legitimacy about you as against having a padded up resume with meaningless wins against nameless oppositions…
Arum gushing about Pacquiao vs. Rios bout on November 24th
By Chris Williams: Top Rank promoter Bob Arum is incredibly excited about the November 24th fight between the recently beaten Manny Pacquiao (54-5-2, 38 KO’s) and Brandon Rios (31-1-1, 23 KO’s) at the Cotai Arena, Venetian Resort, Macao, Macao S.A.R., China.
Both fighters are coming off of losses and in Pacquiao’s case, he’s coming off of two straight losses. The fight will still be on HBO pay per view regardless and the fight is being staged in Macau so that Pacquiao doesn’t have to pay the U.S tax rate on the loot he gets from American fans.
Canelo vs. Cotto is the backup plan if Mayweather won’t face Saul
By Dan Ambrose: Golden Boy Promotions is looking to have former three division world champion Miguel Cotto (37-4, 30 KO’s) ready to go on September 14th to face their highly hyped fighter WBA/WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (42-0-1, 30 KO’s) if Floyd Mayweather Jr. fails to agree to face Canelo on that date.
That’s the fight that Golden Boy wants to put together, but Mayweather isn’t saying whether he’ll agree to face the much heavier Canelo, who came into his last fighting weighing 172 lbs against WBA junior middleweight champion Austin Trout.
Gonzalez: I’m going to pressure Ricky Burns and hit him hard all night
Deontay Wilder vs. Dereck Chisora: Baby steps
By Daniel Mcglinchey: Recently arrested American heavyweight Deontay Wilder (28-0, 28 KO’s) is scheduled to return to England next month to face second tier Brit Dereck Chisora (16-4, 10 KO’s) at Wembley Arena June 15th. Dereck is a strange character, who is perhaps better known for his antics outside the ring rather than in.
Chisora has not one win over a credible opponent and looked awful in his latest outing against an unknown journeyman Hector Alfrdedo Avila (20-12-1, 13 KO’s). Derek has lost 4 of his last 6 to the likes of Tyson Fury, David Haye, Robert Helenius and Vitali Klitschko.
