It was cringe-worthy to sit and watch Dunne be hailed by the presenter of the show, Ryan Tubridy, as some sort of national hero who lifted the country as the economy crumbled around it.

Dunne Stops Cordoba

dunne4334By Sean McDaniel: Super bantamweight challenger Bernard Dunne (28-1, 15 KOs) defeated Panamanian WBA super bantamweight champion Ricardo Cordoba (34-2-2, 21 KOs) in the 11th round in an exciting fight on Saturday night at The O2, in Dublin, Ireland. Dunne, 29, knocked Cordoba down four times in the fight, once in the 3rd and three more times in the 11th. After the third knockdown of Cordoba in the 11th, the fight was stopped by referee Hubert Earle at 2:59.

Haye Offers to Fight Klitschko in Germany; Murray-Chiofalo – News

haye43561Former world cruiserweight champion David ‘The Hayemaker’ Haye has offered to box in Germany on a K2 Promotions show in order to revive negotiations for a summer showdown with WBO and IBF world heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko. Originally scheduled to take place on June 20 at Stamford Bridge in London, Haye’s eagerly anticipated duel with Klitschko has hit a series of snags in recent weeks, and now appears on the brink of collapse.

Miranda Gets KO Of Year; Banks vs. Maccarinelli – News

macc45345465Cruiserweight Enzo Maccarinelli (29-2, 22 KOs) will be facing number #1 ranked World Boxing Organization cruiserweight contender Johnathon Banks (20-0, 14 KOs) in February for the vacant WBO title. Banks, 26, severely sprained his ankle while training for his previously scheduled bout with Maccarinelli in December. The injury prevented Banks from taking the bout, making it necessary for Maccarinelli to find a replacement opponent. Maccarinelli then moved up to heavyweight and took out British journeyman Mathew Ellis, stopping him in the 2nd round on December 6th in London.
