By Jim Dower: Ideally, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum would like to have the Nevada Athletic commission reinstate the boxing license for his fighter two-time welterweight champion Antonio Margarito so that Arum could match Margarito against Manny Pacquiao on November 13th in Las Vegas, Nevada. That’s the number #1 choice for Arum. However, if for some reason the Nevada Athletic Commission fail to give Margarito back his boxing license, Arum has other options for Margarito.

Pacquiao to fight Margarito at catch weight not above 150?
By Chris Williams: World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao is going to get a chance to win his 8th world title when he faces two-time world champion Antonio Margarito on November 13th at a still to be determined venue. According to boxing news from the Inquirer.net, the 31-year-old Pacquiao will be fighting Margarito at a “catch weight not exceeding 150 pounds.” Well, let’s do the math. If the junior middleweight upper limit for the division is 154, then Pacquiao will be fighting at four pounds under the limit, and only three pounds above the 147 pound welterweight limit. I suppose that is a catch weight that meets around the midpoint between the welterweight and junior middleweight division.
Will fighting Margarito enhance Pacquiao’s legacy?
By Eric Thomas: I don’t know if Manny Pacquiao really cares about his legacy once he’s gone from the sport of boxing, but I wonder whether his upcoming November 13th fight against Antonio Margarito will enhance his legacy or hurt it.

By Chris Williams: Manny Pacquiao and Antonio Margarito won’t be just fighting for big bucks when they step in the ring on November 13th, they’ll also be fighting for the vacant World Boxing Council junior middleweight title. This will give Pacquiao a chance to fight for an 8th world title.
Of course, there will also likely be a catch weight involved for the fight. How much weight is anyone’s guess, but I’m thinking it will be at least three to four pounds.

He’s picked Antonio Margarito (38-6, 27 KO’s) as the next opponent for Manny Pacquiao (51-3-2, 38 KO’s) to fight on November 13th, in either Las Vegas, Nevada or Monterrey, Mexico, according to Kevin Iole from Yahoo News. For boxing fans that were hoping to see Pacquiao matched a little tougher than this against the likes of Sergio Martinez, Andre Berto and Paul Williams, this will be sad news. Margarito is painfully slow in terms of hand speed, has zero defense and is utterly hittable. In other words, he’s the perfect opponent for Pacquiao.
Koncz expects the Pacquiao-Margarito fight to take place in Abu Dhabi
By Jason Kim: Michael Koncz, the personal adviser for World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao, thinks the Pacquiao’s next fight against former welterweight champion Antonio Margarito will be taking place in Abu Dhabi rather than Monterrey, Mexico. Abu Dhabi is the second largest city in the United Arab Emirates, and is a very wealthy city. It’s understandable why Bob Arum of Top Rank would want to have the fight take place there. The taxes would be nonexistent and Pacquiao would do well financially. In an article at Philboxing.com, Koncz pointed out that he had been contacted by the Abu Dhabi group and he’s pretty sure that the Margarito-Pacquiao fight can be made and take place in Abu Dhabi.

By Chris Williams: WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao appears to be happy that he could be facing Antonio Margarito in his next fight. Pacquiao said “That’s good,” about a possible fight against Margarito by an interviewer from Aba-cbnnews.com. Pacquiao, 31, would be facing Margarito for the vacant World Boxing Council junior middleweight title. But here is where it gets weird. Pacquiao says “I’ll probably fight him [Margarito] at 150-147 pounds. Around that weight.” Excuse me but if Pacquiao fights Margarito at 147-150, that would be a huge catch weight for Pacquiao to be fighting at, since the junior middleweight division goes up to 154. 147 is the welterweight limit. There has been talk of a catch weight for this fight and you have to wonder whether it will fall into the range of 147-150. How in the heck is Pacquiao going to be fighting for the vacant WBC junior middleweight title when he’s weighing only 147?

By Jim Dower: Having been denied once by the Nevada Athletic Commission in trying to get his boxing license back, attorneys for former two-time welterweight champion Antonio Margarito have filed a legal brief to the Nevada Athletic Commission, looking to get his boxing license to fight Manny Pacquiao on November 13th in Nevada, according to news from the LA Times. Margarito lost his boxing license last year after a plaster-like material was found on his hand wraps before his title fight with Shane Mosley in January 2009. At the time, Margarito was the World Boxing Association welterweight champion.
