Can Khan protect his chin?

Image: Can Khan protect his chin?By Joseph Hirsch: The junior-welterweight division is probably the deepest in talent right now, of all the lighter weight-classes. After Amir Khan made his American debut against Paulie “Magic Man,” Malignaggi, HBO commentator Max Kellerman made it very clear that a four-man tournament was developing to see who would reign supreme in the division. Those four are: Amir Khan, Timothy Bradley, Devon Alexander, and Marcos Maidana. Of the four, Khan is the fastest, while Maidana probably hits the hardest.

Image: Khan eager to fight this Saturday’s Diaz-Marquez winnerBy Sean McDaniel: WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (23-1, 17 KO’s) is looking to take on arguably the biggest name in his career by getting the winner of this Saturday’s lightweight title fight between WBA/WBO lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Juan Diaz at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Khan, 23, needs a big named opponent for him to continue to move forward in trying to become a big star in the United States. There are hopes that by taking on an older, smaller fighter like Marquez, the U.S. boxing public will become enamored with Khan and will want to purchase his fights on pay per view in high numbers like fans do with fights involving Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.

Marquez has to beat Diaz to get to Khan

Image: Marquez has to beat Diaz to get to KhanBy Jason Kim: WBA/WBO lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez (50-5-1, 37 KO’s) has to get by Juan Diaz (35-3, 17 KO’s) in their rematch next Saturday night in order to get to the fight that Marquez is looking forward to against World Boxing Association light welterweight champion Amir Khan (23-1, 17 KO’s). The Khan bout will give the 36-year-old Marquez a nice payday. The bad part about that fight is that Marquez, the much more established fighter, will have to move up in weight to fight Khan for his title rather than Khan coming down to Marquez’s weight and fighting for Marquez’s two lightweight titles. There hasn’t been any talk about Marquez fighting Khan at a catch weight, like Manny Pacquiao did in his win over WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto last year in November.

Roach thinks that Khan and Pacquiao would beat Timothy Bradley

Image: Roach thinks that Khan and Pacquiao would beat Timothy BradleyBy Dave Lahr: If nothing else, you can never say that trainer Freddie Roach is loyal to his fighters Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan, both of which he feels would beat World Boxing Organization light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley if they were to ever fight. Of course, it’s highly unlikely that Pacquiao and Khan will ever fight Bradley, so that is kind of meaningless for Roach to even predict wins for his fighters over Bradley. Khan is being positioned to fight lightweights Juan Manuel Marquez or Juan Diaz, and Pacquiao has been stuck fighting Top Rank fighters from his own stable, and his promoter doesn’t seem interested in matching Pacquiao up with Bradley.

Unfortunately, Khan says they priced themselves out of a fight with him by asking for too much money.
