By Dan Ambrose: Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (42-1-1, 30 KO’s) and Golden Boy Promotions are picking the wrong time to have him fight for the first time as a pay-per-view headliner in his fight with the recently knocked out Alfredo Angulo (22-3, 18 KO’s). If Boxing fans want to see the red-haired Canelo’s next fight on March 8th against Angulo on Showtime PPV, then they’ll have to purchase the fight on PPV. It’s unknown what the fight card will cost, but it wouldn’t be surprising if it goes for $59.99.
Fans don’t have an issue with Canelo fighting an easy mark like Angulo, because Canelo is coming off of a loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. He was totally outclassed by Mayweather in almost humiliating fashion in that fight.

By Dan Ambrose: Trainer Virgil Hunter thinks his fighter Alfredo Angulo (22-3, 18 KO’s) has a really good shot at beating former WBA/WBC light middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (42-1-1, 30 KO’s) on March 8th, if Angulo is the one that ultimately gets selected by the red-haired Canelo to take the fight. Canelo was already turned down by Miguel Cotto for a fight, and now Canelo’s options are down to the following fighters: IBF 154 lb. champion Carlos Molina, Alfredo Angulo or WBA champ Erislandy Lara.
Golden Boy promotions last grand event “The One” didn’t live up to hype and the action didn’t play as we expected. Although others may have different opinions, that’s what I thought of the event. Golden Boy had yet to release news regarding their future events and they surprised me and I’m sure many hardcore boxing fans with 2 stacked cards for December of this year.
By Robert “Big Moe” Elmore: I love to watch every style of boxing, although technical fighters are my favorite. Exciting-all-out-fighters sells tickets and they bring the fans back to see them fight. But they lack one thing that can probably sustain their career and that is defense. It doesn’t have to be that much if they don’t want to. I say just enough not to have your brain rattled to the point of concussion (as Tim Bradley said he had in his post fight interview in his bout with Ruslan Provodnikov).
