Groves & Degale: Past, Present, Future

Image: Groves & Degale: Past, Present, FutureBy Rusty Nate: Commonwealth super middleweight champion George Groves has recently stuck the knife into James Degale again for no real reason just before Degale attempts to capture the WBC Silver Title.

This is a comment that has either been taken out of context when Groves was being interviewed and was asked about Degale (as they always are) or Groves thought he would try and throw Degale off his game before his next fight.

Pacquiao, His Decline and His Camp’s Claims

Image: Pacquiao, His Decline and His Camp's ClaimsBy Rusty Nate: I like Manny Manny Pacquiao, and I think he is a good fighter, exciting to watch, never gets involved in stupid arguments and name calling and he is clearly one of the better ambassadors of the sport.

He has never been tested positive and until he is as far as I am concerned it’s not even something worth being discussed so if that’s your believe then this article is not for you.

I like Juan Manuel Marquez as well. The way in which he has handled the controversial results of the previous fights with Manny has been a great testament to his character.

Roach: Behind the “Red Flag” of Marquez

Image: Roach: Behind the "Red Flag" of MarquezBy Rusty Nate: Freddie Roach, the trainer for Manny Pacquiao has recently made comments suggesting that Marquez has “raised a red flag” by bulking up his muscle mass in an interview with USA Today. Now Roach was quite deliberate in staying close to the line without crossing it. After all Pacquiao just sued Floyd Mayweather for the same claim and if Pacquiao’s trainer then started throwing around the accusations it would look pretty stupid.

So what was the reason for this?

A Great Farewell to Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton

Image: A Great Farewell to Ricky "The Hitman" HattonBy Rusty Nate: Having returned from my trip to Manchester to watch the comeback and final fight of Ricky Hatton’s career I find myself once again reading bias and borderline prejudice articles (once again written by the same person).

I don’t normally allow emotion to come into my articles so on this instance I will just say one thing. Don’t even bother reading these junk articles from a so called professional writer that is more interested in bashing the fighters personally than embracing the beauty of the sport. The more attention paid the more the articles will appear.

Ricky Hatton: My head and heart

Image: Ricky Hatton: My head and heartBy Rusty Nate: The time is nearly upon us when the “Hitman” Ricky Hatton finally makes his return to boxing. In a little over 48 hours the world will awaken to stories of “Wow, he proved us wrong” or “Hatton a shadow of his former self, we told you so”.

I believe Hatton will win Saturday’s fight regardless of the skill & fitness level he has managed to claw back. The reasons I think that are 2 fold……..

1 – I’ve always been a big fan of Hatton and so my heart (maybe stupidly) tells me “there is no way he loses”. There’s a bit of honesty for you rarely said by a writer, particularly on these forums. Ultimately this could go horribly wrong but my heart makes me positive that he is going to be the Ricky of old at least until the first bell sounds when reality could kick in. We’ll see.

Mike Tyson knows best….

Image: Mike Tyson knows best....By Rusty Nate: This is not an article to provoke the hard core bloggers or start arguments. Its more of a little write up about the interview i watched and what stood out for me.

I don’t know who watched the Sky Special on Ringside last week (I had to record it and watch it back as I was at an event).

I managed to get round to watching it last night and found my self overly excited at the upcoming Mike Tyson interview at the end of the program.

The Broner Dilemma

Image: The Broner DilemmaBy Rusty Nate: I recently read an article regarding Adrien Broner and what is next for him after capturing the World Title from Demarco and also securing the number 1 spot in the Ring Lightweight Ranking.

A lot has been speculated.

He shouldn’t fight Burns because it would be an easy win so what’s the point.

He should step straight up and fight the champions at Light Welter.

Mayweather – Pacquiao: Will there be respect?

Image: Mayweather - Pacquiao: Will there be respect?By Rusty Nate: I have been thinking about the hatred and abuse that seems to fly from bloggers and forum posters recently. Now don’t get me wrong I know that this happens regarding a lot of fighters in all divisions but let be honest it’s not been as intense as the age old battle between the “Pactards” and “Floydiots”.

Unlike a lot of sports where a physical participation as a child causes the love, like Football or Tennis, boxing is a sport that can be equally loved by a person that has been no where near a ring. Everyone has a reason they fall in love with boxing, it might be that you saw Rocky 1 in the cinema in 1976 and you thought that it was possible to go from rags to riches, maybe you were watching the day that Mohammed Ali defied all logic and knocked out the unbeatable monster in Zaire or then again you might be from a boxing family background and so there was no chance of you escaping the clutches of the sport!

Who’s next for Froch?

Image: Who's next for Froch?By Rusty Nate: There’s been a huge amount of coverage about the top 4 at Super Middleweights since the weekend when IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch destroyed the hopeful but out of his depth Yusaf Mack “Attack” inside 3 rounds. The talk from Froch is he wants Bute, Kessler and Ward. I would love to see these three fights happen because as a boxing fan they would be great to watch!

The bias Writers have been out in force to throw cold water on Froch’s steaming performance and point out that he would still be beaten by Ward and he fought an empty body on Saturday night etc etc

To put it bluntly….Whats people’s problem!?
