Kell Brook should fight Bundu if he loses to Porter

Kell Brook(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) By Matthias Predonzan: IBF welterweight title-fight between the champion Shawn Porter and the contender Kell Brook will be stylistically an interesting fight even if, in my opinion, the outcome is quite certain on August 16th at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Porter is a much stronger opponent for Brook and I believe the fight will be end inside the distance by referee stoppage.

I was really impressed by Porter when he fought Devon Alexander: he out-boxed him and punished him relentlessly for the whole fight. This was surprising to me because Alexander is himself one very good fighter, but he never found the way to solve the problem of Porter’s speed and timing.

Mayweather vs. Pacquiao: Who wins? Here is what the statistics tell us

floydBy Matthias Predonzan: Finally, one day, the fans will have the answer in the only way that matter to them. Probably the fight between the two best fighters of the last decade will happen at the announced end of Floyd Mayweather’s career and possibly, this will coincide also with the end of Manny Pacquiao’s ones. It will be just great, even if, from a technical point of view, it would have been a better fight if it had happened four or five years earlier.

Now it is too soon, business wise, to make the fight happen, so we still have a lot of time to speculate about the fight’s outcome. We can look at the data in our hands and guess who will be the winner.

Is it Asia the new boxing frontier?

pac014By Matthias Predonzan: A lost opportunity never comes back. I do not think we will see a Manny Pacquiao – Brandon Rios II, after the not antagonistically interesting contest we saw in Macau, China last Saturday night.

All boxing experts were expecting Pacquiao’s better boxing skill and speed to prevail on Rios youthfulness and fighting spirit but everybody who saw the fight was not positively surprised from the way the fight developed.

No attempt from Rios to fight his kind of fight. He was all the time closed in a very tight guard and his responses to Pacquiao combinations, were always made with perfectly wrong timing: when Manny was long gone, sure not to get him and not to be counter-punched by him.

Last steps into greatness for Floyd Mayweather Jr.

floyd784By Matthias Predonzan: What is boxing and who is the boxer? I find a bit too fancy the definition of boxing as “the noble art”. This is an esthetically pleasant phrase but doesn’t define, really, the essence and purpose of boxing.

To me, boxing is a sport where the aim is to hit your opponent without getting hit from him.

Easy to say than to do it.

In order to achieve this goal, the boxer has to possess very many qualities, he doesn’t need to be just the best on something.
