If they can convince all boxers and promoters to commit to the proposal the highest ranked 154lb fighters (excluding Canelo moving up to 160) are Jermell Charlo, Vanes Martirosyan, Anthony Mundine, John Jackson, Sergey Rabchenko and a resurgent Austin Trout.
At 147lbs the top ranked are Amir Khan, Danny Garcia, Shawn Porter, Antonin Decaire, Marcos Maidana and Brandon Rios. Most fans would salivate at the thought of some of these fights but it is unlikely due to promoters, TV networks, injuries and other commitments.

Joshua and Whyte are heavy favorites to win in separate bouts but are on a collision course to fight each other. Despite this there is an outside chance that Gary Cornish or Brian Minto could win their fights and spoil the party.

Through no fault of their own Lennox Lewis and the Klitschko brothers cooled interest in the league of the giants with their unrivaled supremacy. Due to their powerful but tactical boxing displays and to some a lack of personality popularity of heavyweights have declined over the last 20 years.

Brooks future is not just important for the man himself but also has wider connotations for British boxing, Pay-per-view in the UK as well as Eddie Hearns’ Matchroom promotions as a major player.
By Gav Duthie: After being inactive for a little while on the writing front and a lack of top level boxing recently I thought I would give my thoughts on a few of the recent boxing stories in the press.
By Gav Duthie: The final nail has been hammered into the coffin regarding the hopes for Amir Khan ever fighting Floyd Mayweather Jnr. Even if Floyd does decide to fight on passed the 49 bout unbeaten streak (shared with Rocky Marciano) after Andre Berto it is pretty clear he will never face Khan. Like it or not Amir needs to accept this and move on and build his career in other ways. How can he reach the summit of welterweight boxing without beating Mayweather. Whats next?
By Gav Duthie: Before the year is out we are likely to see two rivalries rekindled from all the way back to the amateur days. Top ten pound for pound star Sergiy Kovalev 28-0-1 (25) has been cutting through his opposition with ease but climbing the ranks is former amateur rival Artur Beterbiev 9-0 (9) who claims to have ‘Krusher’ Kovalev’s number.
By Gav Duthie: The city of Hull plays host to their biggest ever boxing spectacle as two local lightweights Luke Campbell and Tommy Coyle lock horns. The event also boasts a good undercard full of boxers with varying agendas – the revenge of Brian Rose on Carson Jones, the latest comeback of two time world champ Ricky Burns and the profile building of heavyweight prospect Dillian Whyte. Here is my take on the fights with predictions.
By Gav Duthie: A very interesting weekend of boxing has been and gone with various ramifications arising for future fights across the divisions. We witnessed top level action from Germany, the UK And the US and after catching up with it all this is what I have surmised.
By Gav Duthie: We often look back at boxers of yesteryear with rose tinted spectacles. Every fighter during his career is open to criticism i.e. not fast enough, not powerful enough, no chin, one dimensional, not fighting the best etc. When you retire most of those questions disappear. All you can do is look at what they have done, limitations or not and assess.
