By Ciaran McKinney: The dethroned light-heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly has given a revealing interview as he sat in the SkySports studios acting as a pundit for the card headlined by the Adonis Stevenson and Tavoris Cloud. It was the first time the public has really been able to get an in depth look at the crestfallen Welshman. In between bouts, his fellow pundits took their opportunity to pick his mind, and Cleverly was not shy. He spoke about how, in his short and unproven time as World Champion, he had the tendency to take his foot off the gas.
This is not a surprise given the low caliber opponents served up to him by his promoter. He spoke freely about his emotions after his crushing defeat against Sergei Kovalev, stating that he considered retirement in the aftermath of the bout and honestly admitting that his game-plan to absorb the Russians power shots and break his heart failed miserably.
