Fabio Wardley Expects Early Finish In Daniel Dubois Rematch

By Boxing News 24 Desk - 10/11/2026 - Comments

Fabio Wardley expects his rematch with Daniel Dubois to finish early, with either heavyweight capable of ending the fight before it reaches the later rounds. Their first meeting lasted 11 rounds, so Wardley’s prediction points to a quicker, more explosive second fight.

“It’s only going one way. It’s finishing early one way or another. It’s going to be a crazy night. Everyone, tune in,” said Wardley to Queensberry.

That “one way or another” qualification leaves room for both outcomes. Wardley knows the danger Dubois brings, even after beating him the first time. He is promising action without pretending that trading heavy punches comes without a cost.

Wardley’s overhand right gives him a clear weapon to take into the rematch. He has already described how he used it to counter Dubois’ jab in their first fight, making Dubois think about what could come back whenever he extended his left hand.

Dubois needs an answer to that punch. His jab can help him control the fight, but throwing it repeatedly without adjusting his defense could give Wardley the opening he is looking for. Wardley doesn’t need to change much if the same counter remains available.

Still, their first fight showed that hurting Dubois early and finishing him early are two different things. Wardley had success well before the stoppage, yet needed 11 rounds to complete the job. Chasing a quicker ending could also make him easier to hit if he becomes too eager after landing.

Wardley expects his supporters to add to the atmosphere on Saturday.

“It’s huge for me. Hometown boy, home grown. Had the club, the supporters, everyone behind me from the beginning,” he said. “So it does mean the absolute most and they’re going to make themselves heard on Saturday night.”

The crowd will be ready for the fireworks Wardley promises. Whether the finish comes early depends on how well Dubois adjusts, and whether Wardley can turn his next opening into something decisive.
