Edgar Berlanga Calls Sebastian Fundora A Cheat Code

By Boxing News 24 Desk - 10/15/2026 - Comments

Edgar Berlanga can’t understand how Sebastian Fundora fits into the 154-pound division. Looking at a workout photo of the WBC champion, he compared Fundora to a video game character and suggested he should be making his money in the NBA.

Fundora’s long legs and arms dominate the picture. Berlanga fights two divisions above him at super middleweight, yet even he sounds taken aback by the sight of someone that tall competing at light middleweight.

Berlanga isn’t the first fighter to reach for a video game comparison. After Fundora stopped Erickson Lubin in April 2022, Terence Crawford called him “a cheat code,” comparing him to a created Fight Night boxer with the height turned up in a smaller weight class.

It’s an understandable reaction. Finding sparring partners who can prepare an opponent for Fundora is difficult enough. Then comes the task of getting past those long arms and landing on a head that sits well above the usual target.

The odd thing is that Fundora often gives opponents a chance by coming to them. He likes fighting up close, throwing short punches rather than spending every round keeping shorter men at the end of his jab. They don’t always have to chase him to get their shots off.

That makes him entertaining, even if Berlanga thinks his dimensions look unfair. Fundora can make 154. The men across from him have to figure out the rest.

His WBC title defense against Ermal Hadribeaj this Saturday is a harder sell. Hadribeaj is the mandatory challenger, but most fans know little about him. They’re waiting to see Fundora against the bigger names in a division with plenty to offer.

Hadribeaj gets his chance to make himself known once the fight starts. Until then, Fundora’s unusual frame is likely to draw more conversation than the matchup itself.
