Bill Haney is calling on Shakur Stevenson to back up his public words regarding a 145-pound clash with Devin Haney. Bill confirmed that Devin accepts the weight limit with zero rehydration restrictions attached.
With November 28 in Atlanta being discussed as the proposed date, the two sides still have work to do before the fight becomes official. Bill’s frustration is that Shakur’s public response made the weight issue look settled, yet they’re still waiting for a completed agreement.
“I think he came out and he said done deal at 145.0. So stand on it,” Bill said to 78SPORTSTV.
That puts pressure on Shakur to explain what remains unresolved. Accepting a weight publicly gives fans reason to expect the fight, especially when the other side says it accepts the same number. It doesn’t mean the date, money, and every other contract term have been agreed upon.
Bill made Devin’s position on the weight clear.
“145.0 cool with us. No hydration, no none of that. Straight up 145 cool with us.”
Removing a rehydration cap gives Devin full freedom to bulk back up after making 145. That reality presents serious tactical considerations for Shakur, though Bill stopped short of confirming whether both teams have formally agreed to that specific term.
Addressing how Devin is handling the prolonged talks, Bill brushed off the holdup as familiar territory.
“I think that the people now get a chance to see who’s really about it and who’s just talking,” he noted.
Bill also declined to get drawn into a discussion about Liam Paro. His focus remains on Shakur, and he said he isn’t trying to kill the fight.
The approaching proposed date makes the wait harder to ignore. A November 28 event would leave limited time to complete negotiations, promote the card, and prepare for an opponent of this level. Bill wants movement now, but the interview leaves the key question unanswered: what still needs to be settled before both fighters sign?
