Andy Ruiz Jr vs Damian Knyba Live Results and Fight Updates

By Boxing News 24 Desk - 09/05/2026 - Comments

Damian Knyba (18-1, 11 KOs) upset Andy Ruiz Jr. (35-3-1, 22 KOs) by 12-round unanimous scores of 117-110, 114-113, and 114-113.

The tall Polish heavyweight controlled most of the fight with his height, reach, and jab as Ruiz struggled to close the distance after a two-year layoff. Knyba nearly finished Ruiz with a right hook and follow-up barrage in the seventh round, dropping him hard before the bell ended the attack. Ruiz rallied in the eighth and ninth, but Knyba reclaimed control late, making the two 114-113 cards look far closer than the action warranted.

Undercard results

Vito “White Magic” Mielnicki Jr. (24-1, 13 KOs) defeated Austin “Ammo” Williams (20-3, 13 KOs) by unanimous scores of 98-91, 98-91, and 98-91. Mielnicki dropped Williams with a hard right hand in the opening round, then controlled most of the fight with his jab, movement, and counters. Williams bloodied Mielnicki’s nose and briefly stiffened his legs with a counter left during his strong eighth round. The hometown fighter recovered, regained command through cleaner punching, and retained his WBO Global and WBC Continental Americas middleweight titles in his Matchroom debut.

Eridson Garcia (24-2, 14 KOs) scored a massive upset over Alan “Veneno” Chaves (22-1, 19 KOs), winning the WBO Latino lightweight title by unanimous decision. The judges scored the 10-round fight 99-87, 99-88, and 98-88. Garcia dropped the heavily favored Argentine four times: once in the second, twice in the fifth, and once in the ninth. The Dominican controlled the fight with pressure, counters, and superior activity as Chaves never produced the rally he needed.

Super featherweight Zaquin Moses (8-0, 4 KOs) stopped Angel Antonio Contreras (18-11-2, 12 KOs) when Contreras remained on his stool after the fifth round. Moses controlled the fight with his jab, hand speed, and southpaw pressure. Contreras absorbed steady punishment before his corner ended the fight. The official time was 3:00 of round five in Moses’ first professional appearance at Newark’s Prudential Center.
