Sylve secured the biggest victory of his career, while Mercado became the first fighter to stop veteran Juan Carlos Burgos
Ashton “H2O” Sylve earned the biggest victory of his career Friday night, outpointing former world champion JoJo Diaz over 10 rounds in Long Beach, California. Ernesto Mercado also delivered a statement performance, stopping veteran Juan Carlos Burgos inside two rounds to remain unbeaten.
Devin Cushing remained undefeated with a hard-fought 10-round unanimous decision victory over J’Hon “Boogieman” Ingram in a competitive lightweight clash. Cushing (19-0, 14 KOs) used his size, body punching, and effective combinations to control much of the early action, hurting Ingram in the second round and building an advantage on the scorecards.
Ingram (9-1, 7 KOs) rallied with aggressive pressure and several strong moments, but he struggled to maintain a consistent attack against Cushing’s sharper boxing and physical style. After 10 entertaining rounds, all three judges scored the bout 97-93 in favor of Cushing.
Amir “Cashman” Anderson remained unbeaten on Friday night, earning a dominant 10-round unanimous decision over Jonas “J Fade” Sylvain. Anderson (8-0, 7 KOs) controlled the action from start to finish, using his jab, accurate left hand, and superior ring generalship to sweep all 10 rounds on the judges’ scorecards by identical scores of 100-90.
Sylvain (9-1-1, 5 KOs) continued to press forward and had a few moments of success, including a solid right hand late in the fight, but he was unable to disrupt Anderson’s rhythm. This was the first time in Anderson’s professional career that he went the full 10-round distance.
Light welterweight contender Ernesto Mercado (19-0, 18 KOs) stopped veteran Juan Carlos Burgos (36-9-3, 22 KOs) in the second round of a 10-round scheduled fight. It was the first time the 38-year-old Burgos had been stopped in his 22-year career.
Welterweight David Lopez (9-0, 7 KOs) defeated Joey Borrero (12-3, 9 KOs) by first-round technical knockout. Borrero was down once. Referee Rudy Barragan halted the fight at the 1:41 mark.
Kayla Gomez improved to 1-0 in her professional debut with a shutout four-round unanimous decision over fellow newcomer Shayntain Creer.
