Baltimore County court records show the warrant remains active following Davis’ January arrest in Florida
Gervonta Davis’ legal situation in Maryland escalated this week after a judge denied a second request from his attorneys to recall an active probation violation warrant. Court records show Davis could be held without bond if arrested on the warrant connected to his January case in Florida.
ESPN reported Wednesday that Baltimore County court records show the warrant remains active after Circuit Judge Althea M. Handy denied the latest motion on May 22.
Court records show Handy first issued a warrant on February 2. Davis’ legal team later requested that the warrant be recalled, arguing that the former lightweight champion would cooperate with authorities. The motion was granted on February 10, temporarily removing the warrant.
Another warrant was issued on April 24 by the same judge. Davis’ attorneys again filed a motion asking for the warrant to be recalled, but this time the request was denied. The reason for the denial was not immediately listed in the court records.
Davis, 31, is currently on probation stemming from a 2020 hit-and-run case in Baltimore that injured four people. The latest issue is tied to his January arrest in Miami involving allegations made by former girlfriend Courtney Rossel.
Rossel accused Davis of attacking her at a Miami strip club where she worked as a VIP cocktail server. The alleged incident took place on October 27, 2025. Rossel later filed a civil lawsuit connected to the allegations, and Davis was eventually removed from his planned November fight against Jake Paul.
Florida authorities arrested Davis on January 14 on charges of battery, attempted kidnapping, and false imprisonment. He was released later that day after posting an $8,500 bond and ordered to have no contact with Rossel.
The false imprisonment charge was later dropped, but the battery and attempted kidnapping charges remain active.
Baltimore County court records state that Davis would be held without bond if arrested on the probation violation warrant.
