Fans Question Keyshawn Davis’ Weight After Lamont Roach Jr. Meeting

A ringside conversation about a possible fight quickly turned into renewed debate about whether Davis belongs at welterweight

A potential fight between Keyshawn Davis and Lamont Roach Jr. was not the main takeaway for many boxing fans after the pair met ringside in Houston. Instead, much of the reaction centered on Davis’ size, with fans arguing the former lightweight contender should already be campaigning at welterweight.

At one point, Floyd Schofield Jr. encouraged a matchup between the two.

“F*** that boy up though. F*** him up right here. Can we get this in 2026? 2027?”

The clip quickly circulated on social media, but many fans focused less on the possibility of a fight and more on Davis’ size.

Several commenters argued that Keyshawn has already outgrown the lower weight classes and should be competing at welterweight rather than discussing fights against naturally smaller opponents.

“This dude should not be fighting anything lower than 147 lol.”

“Keyshawn should be 147 at the lowest.”

“Keyshawn look way bigger than Roach. 147-154 Keyshawn. Leave the lower weight divisions alone.”

Others pointed to Davis’ recent weight issues as evidence that a move up is overdue.

“And y’all wondered why that weight bully couldn’t make weight multiple times.”

“Why wont these fighter fight in the right weight class.”

The comments reflect a growing view among some fans that Davis’ future may be at welterweight. The former lightweight contender has failed to make weight in two of his last three fights, and many observers felt the size difference between him and Roach was noticeable in the ringside clip.

While talk of a future fight generated interest, much of the discussion centered on whether Davis should be targeting bigger opponents instead.
