Steven Butler Stops Ramadan Hiseni, Wins WBA Continental Title

Steven Butler ended his brief rebuilding stretch quickly on Thursday night, knocking out Ramadan Hiseni in two rounds to win the vacant WBA Continental super middleweight title in Montreal.

Butler (38-5-1, 32 KOs) took control of the fight early and finished matters in the second round with a sharp left hook that dropped Hiseni (22-3-2, 8 KOs) onto the lower ropes. Referee Gustavo Padilla waved the bout off at 1:20 of the round.

The Montreal fighter had already established control in the opening round, pressing forward and landing the heavier punches while Hiseni struggled to match Butler’s pace. The finish came quickly in the second when Butler landed clean with the hook to the chin, leaving Hiseni unable to continue.

The win adds a regional belt to Butler’s résumé as he attempts to rebuild his position at super middleweight. Butler has previously fought at a higher level in the division, including world-title opportunities earlier in his career, and the victory gives the Montreal fighter another step toward reentering the conversation for bigger fights.

The event took place at the Montreal Casino and was promoted by Camille Estephan’s Eye of the Tiger Management.

Perez Dominates Chilemba

In the co-feature, unbeaten Cuban cruiserweight Lenar Perez (16-0, 14 KOs) defeated veteran Isaac Chilemba (27-11-3, 11 KOs) by unanimous decision over ten rounds to win the vacant WBA Continental cruiserweight title.

Perez controlled the fight throughout, using steady pressure and activity to keep Chilemba on the defensive. All three judges scored the bout 100-90 in Perez’s favor.

Jhon “El Tigre” Orobio (17-0, 15 KOs) stopped Yomar Alamo (22-6-1, 13 KOs) in the fifth round of their scheduled ten-round super lightweight bout after scoring an earlier knockdown in the third.

Moreno Fendero (14-0, 10 KOs) won a competitive ten-round decision over Shawn McCalman (17-2, 8 KOs) to claim the vacant WBC Continental super middleweight title. Judges scored the fight 96-94 twice and 98-92.

Steve Claggett (40-8-2, 28 KOs) stopped Alejandro Rodriguez (21-13-2, 12 KOs) in the second round of their scheduled ten-round fight.

On the undercard, Daylen Pepin (2-0) defeated Felipe Bocaz (3-3, 1 KO) over four rounds, and Dante Tice (3-0, 2 KOs) stopped Patrik Velky (2-5-1, 1 KO) in the fourth round.
