Derek Chisora says the Deontay Wilder fight is next and that the Usyk idea is off the table for now. Speaking on talkSPORT, Chisora said he is waiting on the call to make it official. When pressed again, he turned the camera and nodded. That was his confirmation.
The bout has been discussed for weeks. A December plan fell apart earlier. Wilder had spoken publicly about chasing Oleksandr Usyk. That path is closed for the moment. The working idea now is London in April, with Tottenham mentioned as the preferred venue. The division moves on without Usyk in this window.
Chisora made clear that money and terms are the only remaining questions. He said he would fight anyone for the right number and the right contract. When the location came up, he said Wilder against him would make sense at Tottenham, and that this was the idea being discussed.
For Wilder, the timing is not optional. He is 40. His recent performances have raised questions. He needs a win that still carries weight without putting him straight into a title fight. Chisora fits that role. He is well known. He is durable. He is still capable of turning fights into physical exchanges that test legs and stamina.
Chisora understands how the fight will be framed and does not push back. He said people can call it a tune up if they want, and that he does not care. He then laid out the fight in blunt terms. He said Wilder would need to knock him out early. If that does not happen by the later rounds, Chisora believes he can take over and wear him down. That view comes from years of long heavyweight fights, not from promotion.
The styles are obvious. Wilder will look to keep range and land clean early. Chisora will move forward, lean, and force contact. If the finish does not come quickly, the fight changes shape.
Chisora also claimed to have heard a different plan forming for Usyk. He said he is hearing that Usyk could fight Andy Ruiz in Las Vegas. There are no dates and no signed agreements. Usyk still sits beyond this fight on paper.
Chisora spoke carefully when the topic came back to him. He said if the Wilder fight happens and the winner gets Usyk next, that would be ideal. He did not pretend to control it. He said he would update people when something is actually done.
Right now, this is a practical fight for Wilder and a dangerous one if it drags, which makes it more real than most heavyweight talk.
