Oleksandr Usyk says he believes he can knock out Daniel Dubois in their undisputed heavyweight fight on Saturday at Wembley. The WBA, WBC, and WBO champion Usyk believes he achieved this once against Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs), stopping him in 2023, and can repeat in their rematch.
Usyk vs. UK Fighters: 7-0
Usyk is a perfect 7-0 against British fighters, and he’ll be looking to go 8-0 by beating Dubois for the second time. For some reason, Oleksandr does well against the UK fighters. He makes it look easy every time.
It would be a crushing blow to the career of IBF champion Dubois if he’s knocked out a second time by Oleksandr. Daniel has clawed his way back since his embarrassing defeat two years ago, winning his last three fights, with victories over Anthony Joshua, Filip Hrgovic, and Jarrell Miller.
Dubois, 27, is the one who wanted this rematch with Usyk, believing he can right the wrongs of what occurred last time. The overwhelming fan belief is that Dubois quit in that fight in the ninth when Usyk began putting it on him. If Daniel quits on Saturday, it would be an utter disaster for him and his career.
“Yes, of course,” said Usyk to TalkSport Boxing when asked if he believes he can stop Daniel Dubois on Saturday.
Dubois is expected to go all out early, emptying his tank, trying to score a quick knockout of Usyk. The concerns are that if he fails to KO Oleksandr in the first half of the fight, he’ll be fatigued in the second half and at the mercy of the better-conditioned, lighter fighter.
Usyk: “King of Heavyweight Division”
“I’m not a cheater. I just think it’s psychological games for Daniel Dubois’ team,” said Usyk, reacting to being told that Dubois’ team thinks he faked being hit low in their fight in 2023. “I like psychology games, but it’s my rules. Of course,” said Usyk when asked if he’s the ‘King of the heavyweight division.’
