There’s talk that Canelo Alvarez is being motivated to punish Terence Crawford after hearing the comments from fans that he can’t cut off the ring in their September 13th fight in Las Vegas.

Hearn’s Canelo Movement Comments
Promoter Eddie Hearn is one of them who commented that Canelo (63-2-2, 39 KOs) has problems with fighters who use movement at this stage of his career.
“Anyone who has movement is going to cause Canelo problems at this stage in his career,” said Eddie Hearn to Yahoo Sports.
It’s understandable why Canelo would be upset with Hearn selling him short with his observation. Alvarez has fought a lot of runners during his career, and many of them a lot younger than the 38-ish Crawford.
Terence’s trainer, Brian ‘BoMac’ McIntyre, has already said that they’re going to follow the blueprint created by Floyd Mayweather Jr. to defeat the undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo, 35, at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
Mayweather didn’t run from Canelo, but he used just enough movement to avoid his pressure to get a 12-round majority decision win in 2013. It wasn’t the most entertaining fight to watch, but Floyd got the win with his hit-and-run style.
It’s doubtful that it would have worked in Canelo’s prime, as his power increased and he became more aggressive with age. But that version of Canelo was beatable by Mayweather.
Canelo’s Ring-Cutting Challenge
Hopefully, Crawford doesn’t run because there will be a lot of boxing fans watching the event. Turki Alalshikh already said he doesn’t want any Tom and Jerry fights. If Crawford wants to continue fighting on Turki’s cards, he needs to stay in the pocket and fight.
Turki has been hyping up the Canelo-Crawford fight, labeling it “The Fight of The Century,” when it might not even be the biggest fight of 2025. All that hype will be laughed at by fans afterward if Crawford runs from Canelo.
