Paul’s Cherry-Picking Criticized
There’s not a lot of interest in this fight because YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul is cherry-picking another weak opponent. They’ve caught onto the hustle, understanding what his career as a boxer is all about.
The influencer Paul (11-1, 7 KOs) has taken a lot of criticism for choosing the 39-year-old WBC middleweight champion Chavez Jr. (54-6-1, 34 KOs), because he’s well past his prime.
His career has been on a downward slide since 2012, as that’s when it began to decline with his loss to Sergio Martinez. Julio Jr. has lost five fights since then and beaten no one notable in the last 13 years.
In an example of how much Chavez Jr. has lost from his game, he was beaten by 46-year-old former UFC champion Anderson Silva by an eight-round decision in 2021. That was only Silva’s third fight as a pro.
Farmer’s Lightweight Comeback
A fight that is semi-interesting on this card is the Farmer-Schofield lightweight bout. The former IBF super featherweight champion Farmer (33-8-1, 8 KOs) has been doing a lot of trash-talking about his unbeaten, highly ranked opponent, Schofield (18-0, 12 KOs).
Despite Tevin having lost his last three fights coming into Saturday’s contest, he believes this is a sure-thing win for him. Farmer’s recent losses have come against the top contenders, William Zepeda [x 2], and Raymond Muratalla.
