Jai Opetaia folded Claudio Squeo in half and allegedly snapped his jaw in the process. Five rounds. One clean right hook. Done. IBF and Ring cruiserweight titles still around his waist. Squeo? I hope he is ok. That wasn’t a fight. That was a televised execution.
The hype going in? None. And rightfully so. Squeo was a huge underdog for a reason — he was shorter, slower, and had the footwork of a shopping trolley. He flailed around for four rounds while Opetaia measured him like he was setting up a hit.
By the fifth, it was surgical. One shot. Night-night. Medics in. Fight over.
If Ramirez Has A Spine, October’s The Date
Now that the warm-up is out of the way, Opetaia’s got real business to handle — and it’s spelled Z-U-R-D-O.
He’ll be in Anaheim ringside for Gilberto Ramirez vs. Yuniel Dorticos later this month, waiting to see if Zurdo shows up or phones it in. If Ramirez wins, Opetaia wants him in October.
He doesn’t want to talk. He doesn’t want negotiations. He wants to put his fist through another face and walk away with the WBC and WBO belts to match the ones he already owns.
And if Ramirez ducks? Don’t be shocked. Fighters love belts — until someone like Opetaia comes calling. Then suddenly, it’s “maybe next year.”
