Usyk Camp Mocks Fury’s ‘Skinny’ Appearance Ahead of Undisputed Heavyweight Clash

Oleksandr Usyk noted the change in Tyson Fury’s appearance today for their grand arrivals in Riyadh, saying he looks “skinny” now. Usyk’s promoter, Alex Krassyuk, says that Fury’s nerves have caused him to lose so much weight because he’s been so worried, even postponing.

Although Fury does appear thin for him, he still looks like he’s carrying around weight that a normal heavyweight would want to lose to be ready for a fight. He’s what you would call, ‘Fat skinny.’

I think Fury may regret taking off all that weight because he’s going to be weaker, and he’s still not slim. It’s always a mistake for a fighter to make drastic changes to their body, as we’re seeing with Fury, after carrying around extra weight for as long as he has.

This is probably the thinnest Fury has been since his win over Wladimir Klitschko in 2015, but he was young then and he was fighting a 40-year-old. Even then, Fury barely won that fight.

Dawning a hat to cover his pate, Fury looked considerably thinner than the career-high 277 lbs he weighed last October for his previous fight in Riyadh

Krassyuk’s Theory: Nerves and Weight Loss

“Who’s the middleweight now? That’s because he’s nervous. When you’re nervous, you lose weight or gain weight like his father,” said Oleksandr Usyk’s Promoter Alex Krassyuk to DAZN Boxing, talking about Tyson Fury’s slimmed-down physique during today’s grand arrivals in Riyadh.

“Yeah, a little bit, like skinny,” said Usyk when asked about Fury’s appearance.

All you can say is that the mysterious cut that Fury sustained in training last February worked well in his favor, giving him some badly needed time to lose more weight because he is still chunky and not nearly ready to battle the ultra-talented unified champion Usyk for the undisputed championship.
