Ryan Garcia Cleared of One PED Allegation, Still Faces Scrutiny for Ostarine

Journalist Dan Rafael confirmed today that Ryan Garcia is cleared of the PED 19-Norandrosterone from his April 19th sample for his fight against WBC light welterweight champion Devin Haney on April 20th in Brooklyn, New York.

Ostarine Allegations Remain, Hearing Likely

However, Rafael states that Ryan (25-1, 20 KOs) still tested positive for the banned PED Ostarine for two of his failed tests. That substance is “not allowed at any level.”

Ryan’s B sample will be tested on May 22nd, and they could face punishment if it turns out to be positive for the Ostarine drug.

Expert Commentary and Fighter’s Response

“A) Cleared of 19-Norandrosterone per more detailed testing of 4/19 sample
B) Nothing imaginary about PED Ostrarine. Faces hearing/likely punishment for 2 failed tests.
C) Ostarine amount doesn’t matter. Some things you can have up to a threshold. Ostarine is not allowed at any level,” said Dan Rafael on X.

Ryan Garcia:  “So y’all realize I didn’t fail the tests now. No substance other than this imaginary ostrich substance. Level so low wouldn’t have any effect. THEY TRIED BUT NO LIE STANDS.”

Important Considerations

If Ryan Garcia’s B-sample is shown to have Ostarine, it could impact his career. The consequences would be the following:

– Suspension
– Fines
– Win overturned for Devin Haney fight

The way boxing fans view Ryan could change after this, and he would have to work hard to regain the popularity he previously had after his upset victory over Haney.

While it’s not impossible for Garcia to continue his path toward stardom, it’ll require him to test clean for his future fights, and he would need to continue to beat high-level opposition to show that his win over Haney wasn’t aided by the substance that he’d tested positive for.

Many boxing fans will view Ryan’s victory over Haney as tainted now, and he’s got to show fans that he’s capable of winning against the best and testing clean.
