Shakur Stevenson Exposes Devin Haney’s Cowardly Hustle

Shakur Stevenson doubts Devin Haney will fight him unless he has to. The WBC lightweight champion (21-0, 10 KOs) feels Haney is milking the game, cherry-picking lesser threats, raking in the dough.

Haney is making good money, profiting on facing weaker opposition and continuing to win. He says he won’t vacate his WBC light welterweight title, which makes sense. 140 may be the only weight class that Haney can excel in because he doesn’t possess enough power to swim with the big game fish at 147.

Haney’s Vacate and Conquer Strategy

Stevenson says Haney names all these fighters he wants to fight, but then he doesn’t do it. Instead, he chooses Ryan Garcia. Shakur is bothered about Haney vacating his WBC lightweight title rather than facing him and then fleeing to the 140-lb division to face the carefully picked 35-year-old Regis Prograis to capture his WBC light welterweight title.

“Yes. I hate when people say that Tank fight ain’t going to happen and ‘He ain’t going to fight you,'” said Shakur Stevenson to ESNEWS when asked if he thinks Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis will fight him one of these days.

Shakur Exposes Haney’s Milking

“If they have to, they’ll do it, but if they don’t have to, they’ll keep doing what they’re doing and milk the game, which they should be doing. There’s nothing wrong with that,” said Shakur about Devin Haney and his dad, Bill, not fighting him unless they have to.

“There’s a lot of fans out there who believe what they say, but truthfully, there’s a lot of cap going on.

“It would be a big fight,” said Shakur when asked about his thoughts on Ryan Garcia saying he wants to fight him next. “The only thing I don’t like is if he loses this fight, he’ll be coming off of two loses. He got a win in between, but the fight he’s recognized for, he’s coming off a loss to Tank and then Devin. Then he’s be fighting me.

“I want the fight to happen, because I want a big fight, but I don’t like that it’s happening that way. If he comes out victorious and knocks out Devin, then that’s a huge fight right there.
