WBC Addresses Ryan Garcia’s Social Media Behavior Ahead of Haney Fight

WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman revealed that his organization is having “direct talks” with the New York State Athletic Commission about lightweight star Ryan Garcia’s social media activity. Sulaiman is giving us concerned parent vibes about Kingry.

Sulaiman told talkSPORT there is “concern’ about Ryan (24-1, 20 KOs), but he’s still confident that his fight with WBC light welterweight champion Devin Haney will happen on April 20th. Ryan is on thin ice now with his comments and can’t keep this up without jeopardizing the fight.

Jokes Gone Wrong

Ryan’s comments about wanting to nibble on Haney’s ears are just a little too much, even for the WBC president Sulaiman to take.

Ryan, 25, made a threat this week on social media, saying he’ll bite Haney’s ears during their fight at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. That was just one of many strange remarks made by Ryan that have fans wondering if he’s mentally fit.

Ryan should have told the fans that he was joking to clarify that he wasn’t serious about his remark about biting Haney on April 20th. Sulaiman still hopes the Haney-Garcia fight will happen next month, but there’s still a lot of time before then.

Earlier today, Ryan posted on social media, saying he’s taking a break from his online presence until after his fight with Haney. It sounds like it’s finally dawned on Ryan that he could mess up his fight with Haney if he keeps posting wacky stuff on X, making fans wonder if he’s got a few screws loose.

The WBC Steps In (Kinda)

“Of course, there has come a lot of concern. But I have spoken to him, he’s a very nice kid, he has a full training camp going on, and I believe he will be in a position to fight. But we are addressing the situation,” said WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman to talkSPORT about Ryan Garcia’s situation.
