Former WBO super middleweight champion Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez (46-1, 30 KOs) dethroned previously unbeaten WBA cruiserweight champion Arsen Goulamirian (27-1, 18 KOs), winning a 12 round unanimous decision in a one-sided victory at the YouTube Theater in Inglewood, California.

The scores were 118-110, 118-110, and 118-110.

Zurdo Ramirez used his high punch output to take advantage of the low work rate of Goulamirian, who wasn’t letting his hands go enough. Although Goulamirian had more power, he was too slow and failed to throw enough to match the constant shots coming from Gilberto.

“I want to become undisputed cruiserweight champion,” said Ramirez after the fight.

Undercard results:

Welterweight contender Alexis Rocha (24-2, 16 KOs) got redemptions tonight with a seventh round TKO over Fredrick Lawson (30-5, 22 KOs). Rocha hammered Lawson with heavy shots in the last seconds of the seventh.

The referee was close to stopping it but allowed the fight to continue. After the round ended, Lawson’s corner had the contest halted.

In the sixth round, Rocha was given credit for a knockdown after hitting Lawson with a hard shot that caused him to fall into the ropes. With the ropes holding Lawson up, the referee scored it as a knockdown.

‘Zurdo’ Ramirez (45-1, 30 KOs) will be fighting for only the second time at cruiserweight when he challenges the unbeaten champion Goulamirian (27-0, 18 KOs) tonight in the 12-round main event on DAZN.
