WBO junior middleweight champion Tim Tszyu’s manager, Glen Jennings, reportedly would consider Tszyu vacating his title if they can get a fight against Errol Spence next if they’re victorious against Sebastian Fundora this Saturday night, March 30th, in Las Vegas. It’s a bigger payday for Tszyu to fight Spence next than Terence Crawford.
Thaboxingvoice reports that Jennings sees the Spence fight as a possibility for Tszyu next rather than Terence Crawford. Jennings says they’ll discuss this Monday after Tszyu has fought Fundora.
Tszyu must beat Fundora, vacate his WBO 154-lb title, and negotiate the fight with Spence’s management. There would be so much money Tszyu could get from fighting Spence and then Crawford rather than the other way around.
This news won’t make Crawford happy because he’s counting on fighting the winner of the Tszyu vs. Fundora fight next, but that may not happen now that Jennings has come up with a gem of an idea.
It would be smart for Tszyu to pick up the bigger payday against the charismatic 2008 U.S. Olympian Spence, who has connected better with fans than Crawford.

It’s just gimmick stuff that ultra-hardcore boxing fans like to watch, but those who enjoy seeing pure action are bored by it.
The idea would be for Tszyu (27-0, 17 KOs) to take the big-money fight against former unified welterweight champion Spence (28-1, 22 KOs) and then return to reclaim the WBO belt.
In the meantime, Crawford would likely fight for the belt against the highest-ranked contender in the World Boxing Organization’s top 15 rankings at 154. That’s if Crawford chooses to fight for the belt. With him, he might choose to go up to 168 to hang around to see if Canelo Alvarez will throw him a bone.
