Freddie Roach Predicts Jaime Munguia Will KO Canelo

Trainer Freddie Roach claims his fighter Jaime Munguia will knock out Canelo Alvarez on May 4th when the two meet at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Roach feels that the 27-year-old Munguia (43-0, 34 KOs) has the perfect style to defeat the superstar Canelo (60-2-2, 39 KOs) and dethrone him as the undisputed super middleweight champion on Amazon Prime and DAZN PPV.

Canelo’s Kryptonite

With his combination punching, high work rate, and aggressiveness, Munguia has the ideal style to not only defeat Canelo but knock him out on May 4th.

Jaime’s fighting style is kryptonite for the 33-year-old Canelo, who has always had problems against fighters with a high work rate who throw in combinations. We saw that exhibited in Canelo’s loss to Dmitry Bivol.

Surprisingly, Alvarez’s last two opponents haven’t capitalized on this vulnerability because the blueprint is there. Canelo’s three weaknesses:

1. Fast pace
2. Combination punchers
3. High-volume attackers

Munguia can do everything that guy did but much more against Canelo by fighting with more aggression and not letting up on him when he’s backed against the ropes. Jaime won’t show mercy to Canelo when he traps him.

Faded Star or Still a Force?

“He’s doing great. He’s a very good student, and he trains his a** off every day,” said trainer Freddie Roach to the media about Jaime Munguia, who is preparing for his title fight against undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez on May 4th in Las Vegas.

“He is. I love that fight,” said Roach, who was told that Golden Boy promoter Oscar De La Hoya predicts Munguia will defeat Canelo. “Yes, I do [see Munguia stopping Canelo].

“No, he’s been hurt before,” Roach said about Alvarez. “Not the most [difficult style for Canelo], but I know his style will give him trouble. We signed the contract one day out. That’s how bad we wanted the fight. I think he’s [Canelo] faded a little bit, but we’ll find out,” said Roach when asked if Canelo is starting to show signs of decline.

In this writer’s expert opinion, Canelo is a spent force on the decline and there to be taken by young lion Munguia.
