Errol Spence fired back on Terence Crawford on social media in response to his self-important comment, saying that he needs to “wait in line” for him to challenge the newly crowned WBC/WBO junior middleweight champion Sebastian Fundora next after dethroned Tim Tszyu last Saturday night.
No Lines for Spence
Spence (28-1, 22 KOs) told Crawford he doesn’t wait in lines for fights, which could be true in this case because Fundora (21-1-1, 13 KOs) will likely face him next.
The one that will need to wait in line is Crawford, who ain’t getting the fight against Fundora next, and he could be waiting until 2026 for a chance to fight him.
Assuming Fundora keeps winning, he’s booked up for his next three fights, likely with two lucrative clashes against Spence and a rematch with Tszyu.
Crawford’s Scrapheap Options
Although Errol lost to Crawford last July, he could get the last laugh by getting the chance to face Fundora next. If he vacates the belt, Terence will have the lesser fight against Josh Kelly for the WBO 154-lb belt.
With Spence looking at two fights against Fundora, Crawford is left with the bottom-of-the-barrel against Kelly for the vacant WBO junior middleweight title, and that ain’t going to do numbers at all.
Even Tszyu, the loser of last night’s fight, is saying he wants Spence. Now, what does that tell you? Crawford may need to move up in weight or return from whence he came at 147 to give Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis the fight that the boxing world wants to see.
