Boxing Results: Dalton Smith KO’s Jose Zepeda in UK!

At Sheffield Arena, Sheffield, Yorkshire, UK, Dalton Smith knocked out 3-time world title challenger Jose ‘Chon’ Zepeda in five rounds for the vacant WBC Silver Super Lightweight title. In the co-feature WBC World Welterweight champion Sandy Ryan stopped former two division world champion Terri Harper after four rounds.

In the Main Event British and Commonwealth Super Lightweight champ Dalton ‘Thunder’ Smith, 16-0 (12), #139.6, of Sheffield, Yorkshire, UK, knocked out southpaw Jose ‘Chon’ Zepeda, 37-5 (28), #139.6, of Mexico residing in LaPuente, CA, at 1:25 of the fifth round of a scheduled 12 rounds for the vacant WBC Silver Super Lightweight title.

In the first two rounds Zepeda backed Smith up outworking him. In the third round Smith started throwing punches doing well until the final seconds when Zepeda rocked him.

In the fifth round Smith was doing well when he landed a vicious right to the mid-section and down went Zepeda for the count from Referee Victor Loughlin.

In the co-feature WBO World Welter champion Sandy ‘The Lion’ Ryan, 7-1-1 (3), #146.2, of Derby, UK, stopped former two division world champ Terri Harper, 14-1-2 (6), #145.9, of Denaby Main, Yorkshire, UK, after four rounds of a scheduled 10×2 rounds.

In the first four rounds Ryan with a bloody nose in the fourth proved to be too strong for Harper, hurting her the end of the third and fourth rounds. In between rounds Harper’s corner called a halt. Referee Marcus McDonnell.

Super Welter southpaw Ishmael ‘The Black Panther’ Davis, 13-0 (6), #, #153.8, of Leeds, Yorkshire, UK, defeated former Super Welter British champ Troy ‘Trojan’ Williamson, 20-3-1 (14), #158.2, of Darlington, County Durham, UK, over 12 rounds, for British final eliminator.

In the first four rounds Williamson coming in 4 pounds over the limit had an edge over Davis. In the fifth round Davis used some uppercuts to get back into the fight taking his first round.

In the seventh round Williamson came out firing punches backing Davis up taking the round. In the final minute of the eighth round Davis knocked out the mouthpiece of Williamson who had swelling under his right eye. In the ninth round Davis continued outworking Williamson.

In the eleventh and twelfth rounds fight Davis had an edge. Referee Kevin Parker.

Scores 117-111, 116-112 twice. 115-113 KH.

BBBofC Central Area Super Light champ Jimmy Joe ‘The Young Lion’ Flint, 14-1-2 (3), #139, of Doncaster, UK, defeated Campbell ‘Hurricane’ Hatton, 14-1 (5), #139.7, of Manchester, UK, over an all action 10 rounds.

In the first round no feeling out as both let their hands go. In the second through the fourth rounds the action continued with Hatton having an edge.

In the fifth round Hatton came back well enough to win the round. In the seventh round Flint suffered a cut on the left eyebrow due to a clash of heads. In the eighth round Flint finished the stronger of the two with good body work taking the round. In the ninth both had their moments with Flints left eye cut. In the tenth and final round Flint outworked an exhausted Hatton. Referee Reece Carter.

Super Bantam Nico ‘Lightning’ Leivars, 6-0-1 (1), #121.3, of Mansfield, UK, knocked out Piotr ‘Gypsy’ Mirga, 7-3 (0), #121.1, of Zakopane, POL, Southend-on-Sea, UK, at 1:32 of the ninth round of a scheduled 10 rounds, for British eliminator. Cut over both eyes Leivars pulled out the knockout.

In the third round due to a clash of heads Leivars left eyebrow was cut. In the fourth round Leivars right eyebrow was cut from a left hook from Mirga.

In the sixth round Leivars face is a mask of blood. In the eighth round it was all action with Leivars having the better of it. In the ninth round a left uppercut to the mid-section from Leivars and down went Mirga on his knees for the count from Referee John Latham.

Middle Emmanuel Leli ‘The Maltese Monster’ Buttigieg, 3-0 (1), #157.2, of Newham, London, UK, defeated Bartlomiej Stryczek, 2-3 (1), #156, of Bestwina, POL, over 6 rounds.

In the third round Buttigieg landed a right on the chin and dropped Stryczek for an 8-count from Referee John Latham who scored 60-53.

Middle Connan ‘The Barbarian’ Murray, 8-0 (1), #158, of Cusworth, Doncaster, Yorkshire, UK, defeated Edgar Kemsky, 3-7-1 (1), #156.6, of Senec, SLO, Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK, over 6 rounds.

In the first 3 rounds Kemsky clowned a bit while Murray outscored him. In the last 3 rounds Murray continued outworking him. Referee Reece Carter scored 60-54.

Light Heavy, former Commonwealth Middle champ Liam ‘Cannonball’ Cameron, 23-5 (10), #174.8, of Sheffield, Yorkshire, UK, stopped Hussein Itaba, 16-9-3 (11), #173.3, of Dar-Es-Salaam, TANZ, at 2:32 of the first round of a scheduled 6 rounds.

In the first round at the halfway point a four-punch combination from Cameron dropped Itaba for an 8-count from Referee Reece Carter. In the final minute a left hook from Cameron dropped Itaba causing referee Carter to call a halt.
