Bill Haney: Ryan Garcia’s Not Crazy

Bill Haney, the dad of WBC light welterweight champion Devin Haney, confirms that Ryan Garcia “ain’t’ crazy, the fight is [still] on” for April 20th.

It’s good that Bill has confirmed this because many fans are questioning whether Ryan (24-1,20 KOs) will be pulled from the fight due to his erratic behavior, notably his comments on social media.

Is the Paycheck Talking?

Bill sounds like he’s worried about Devin’s big payday going bye-bye because he won’t make that kind of money fighting anyone else. If that paycheck vanishes for Haney, where will he get similar money without risking his unbeaten record?

More importantly, Haney is the favorite to beat Ryan. Would Bill be just as eager to keep the fight on if Devin were the underdog and expected to lose?

“April 20th, the fight is on, Devin Haney vs. Ryan Garcia,” said Bill Haney on social media. No matter how many distractions, no matter the antics Ryan has displayed, I know the kid ain’t crazy. The crazy thing was signing up to fight Devin. We’re going to be ready.”

Regardless of what Bill says, fans doubt whether Ryan will make it to the April 20th fight with Devin without being removed and institutionalized. Not surprisingly, the fans are hesitant about purchasing the event on DAZN PPV.

Bill Dismisses Shakur Stevenson as Replacement

“He ain’t fought nobody. No disrespect to the fighters he’s fought, but the last fight that he had with the opponent that was coming forward, Edwin De Los Santos, you got a chance to see a whole bunch of holes in his game,” said Bill Haney on social media dismissing Shakur Stevenson as a viable option for Devin to fight.

“With all the Tweeting and all the Shakur fans, they haven’t been able to land a fight yet. It can’t be everybody else’s fault,” said Bill.
