Mickey Bey doubts Ryan Garcia’s focus on boxing ahead of his fight against WBC light welterweight champion Devin Haney on April 20th.
Bey feels that Ryan (24-1, 20 KOs) could be heading towards a career as an actor in a couple of years, and he questions his commitment to this fight against Devin.
Moreover, he doesn’t see Ryan sticking with it in needing to rebuild over a two-year period after he loses to Haney. Bey doesn’t see Ryan hanging in there.
He does commend Kingry for taking the fight with Haney (31-0, 15 KOs), but he sees him losing every round before he’s knocked out. Haney isn’t a knockout puncher, but Bey notes that he came close to stopping his last opponent, WBC 140-lb champion Regis Prograis, last December.
Bey doesn’t say which round Haney was close to stopping Prograis, as there was only a flash knockdown, and that was it. Prograis was never hurt in that fight because Devin was using Shakur-esque style of fighting.
Bey sees Flaws in Ryan Garcia’s Game
“He needs to in this fight to go for it on this one. Literally, go for it and bring the fight to him,” said Mickey Bey on the MillCity Boxing YouTube channel about him saying that Devin Haney must go for the knockout against Ryan Garcia on April 20th.
“This is the one where he can do like Antonio Moran, simple, but he’s better now and more experienced. I would say bring the heat on this one. Yeah, he got a lot of holes in his game,” said Bey about Ryan. “He’s got good attributes.
“He [Haney] almost had Regis up out of there. We don’t know if he [Ryan] can beat Regis, but I take my hat off to Ryan for getting it done. All these dudes be talking. He’s really getting it done.
Doubting Ryan’s Focus on Boxing
“He’s going to get back up. Two years if he stays focused. To me, he’s [Ryan] going to be focused for this fight, but I don’t know. He might be an actor or something in a couple of years. For a minute, but I don’t know,” said Bey, reacting to being told that Ryan Garcia has the ‘Killer instinct.’
“Yeah, I don’t see Ryan doing nothing with him [Haney]. His style, I don’t think it’s made for Devin. For some guys, but not Devin,” said Bey.
