Teofimo Calls Out Crawford: “I’m 8D, They’re 3D”

Teofimo Lopez is putting a lot of work into calling out top welterweight star Terence Crawford, saying he wants him next after the title defense of his WBO 140-lb belt against Jamaine Ortiz on February 8 in Las Vegas.

Lopez (19-1, 13 KOs) respects the unbeaten Crawford’s talent and what he’s achieved during his 16-year professional career, which is why he wants to face him.

Crawford vs. Lopez: A Potential Blockbuster

Teofimo feels a fight between him and Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs) would bring in more dough from PPV sales than Terence’s last bout against former unified welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. last July on Showtime.

“I think we make more money than you made with Spence,” said Lopez to Fight Hub TV about his thoughts on a PPV fight with Crawford.

What could keep a fight between Teofimo and Crawford back from happening is Teo’s promotional company. They may not want to put much money into guaranteed purses for a fight that might bomb on PPV.

Teofimo isn’t a PPV fighter, and Crawford has only had one successful fight on pay-per-view against Errol Spence. Some believe that Spence is the reason for that success, not Crawford.

Some boxing fans think Teofimo is just using Crawford for clout to try and get people interested in his February 8th non-PPV fight against Jamaine Ortiz on ESPN+.

That’s a really poor fight, and Teofimo needs to do everything he can to get people interested in watching him. What better way to do that than to use Crawford’s name? It’s sneaky, but you must do what you must.

If name-dropping is Teofimo’s game, he shouldn’t limit himself to Crawford. He should take the scattergun approach by calling out Gervonta Davis, Ryan Garcia, Canelo Alvarez, and David Benavidez.

Beyond the Physical

Teofimo, 26, says his existence is on another level than other earthlings, in an “8D World,” whereas other humans exist in a “3D world.” It’s unclear what Teofimo is talking about but it makes his calling out of Crawford more interesting. Fans need to think hard to decipher what Teo is getting at. Is he a space alien from another planet?
