Haney blasts back at Tank Davis’ copycat accusations

Devin Haney responded to a Tweet from Gervonta Davis today with an expletive-filled post, denying that he wants to be just like him, copying the Baltimore native’s brand to the tee.

It seems obvious that the newly crowned WBC light welterweight champion Haney mirrors Gervonta’s hip look, adopting the look in hopes of siphoning off fans.

Some would argue that instead of winning fans by fighting entertainingly, Haney is circumventing that process by borrowing Tank Davis’ brand, looking to become popular in another way.

Unfortunately, Haney can’t fight like Tank Davis because he has no power, and his fighting style is considered safety-first and boring to watch.

From Jewelry to Ryan Garcia: mimicry or coincidence?

Tank Davis and the fans have noticed that Haney is copying his style with his look and is now setting up a fight with his last opponent, Ryan Garcia.

The ‘Face of Boxing’ Tank Davis (29-0, 27 KOs) posted on social media how Haney is copying and wants to be like him. Rather than ignoring it, Devin got emotional, firing back on Twitter, using curse words.

Will gloves settle the score?

What fans would like to see is Tank Davis and Haney eventually fight in 2024, but that doesn’t seem too realistic given the weight differences between the two.

The fight can’t happen unless the two settle the massive weight disparity between them, as the 25-year-old Haney is basically a super middleweight who is still capable of melting down to 140 to use his size on smaller opponents.

Haney won’t agree to the weight stipulations to make it a fair fight between them, and Tank isn’t about to let his B-side opponent call the shots in the negotiations. Moreover, if Haney is going to rehydrate to 170 lbs for a fight with Tank Davis, that match won’t happen. Tank isn’t going to agree to fight a light heavyweight on the night.
