Fury heats up Usyk rivalry with words, mountains, and a black Eye

Tyson Fury took to social media today to send a message to IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk, warning him that he’s going to his “rabbit face” on February 17th when they meet for the undisputed heavyweight championship in Saudi Arabia.

The 35-year-old Fury has to be worried right now, given what’s at stake for this fight, as he can’t afford to lose if he wants the massive payday against Anthony Joshua later this year. Granted, there’s a rematch clause for the Usyk undisputed contest, but it might not matter.

Fury looked washed in his last fight, and he’ll likely lose twice in a row to Usyk. At that point, the Saudis will wash their hands of the Gypsy King and focus on putting together the trilogy match between Joshua and Usyk.

Fury’s fitness and form

Sporting a blackeye, Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs), with his coach SugarHill Steward by his side, bragged about his running in the mountains. Fury needs to run because he can’t go into this fight looking as flabby and out of shape as he was in his previous contest against Francis Ngannou. He weighed 277 lbs for that bout and appeared at least 30 lbs overweight.

Supposedly, Fury had already landed in Saudi Arabia days ago to begin training there, so it’s unclear how he was able to run in the mountains & cold weather over there.

Tyson then said it would be “easy work” for him to defeat Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs), who fans feel that he’s been avoiding like the plague for the last three years.

WBC heavyweight champion Fury has got his work cut out for him in this fight after his last performance against novice Francis Ngannou, which he arguably lost last October in Saudi Arabia.

Fury can’t count on the judges

The judges bailed the 35-year-old Fury out, giving him a ten round split decision, but he was soundly beaten in the eyes of the boxing world. What was pathetic is Fury didn’t have the decency to give Ngannou a rematch to clear up the controversy.

Fury just moved on, acting as if nothing happened. Boxing greats from the past likely were turning over in their graves, with the way Fury was able to live with his victory.

“Another big day of running in the mountains. Come on,” said Tyson Fury on social media today as he prepares for his February 17th undisputed heavyweight championship fight against Oleksandr Usyk.

“Easy work, smashing a rabbit face like you, you useless piece of [bleep],” said Fury in his message directed towards Usyk.
